Northampton Saints player ratings vs Scarlets | 2025/26 Investec Champions Cup
Northampton Saints player ratings: Saints were rattled early as Scarlets flew out of the blocks and punished some loose handling and ill-discipline. Once the dust settled, though, Northampton’s set-piece muscle and forward power took over, securing a 43-28 victory.
And when the ball found Edoardo Todaro, the Italian initiated cheat mode. Give him the ball and he scored.
Here’s our Northampton Saints player ratings:
1. Emmanuel Iyogun – 7.5
Physical at the coalface and aggressive in contact, with a couple of dominant tackles to underline his intent. Lost a few turnovers that took a little gloss off the afternoon, but he was part of a scrum that bent Scarlets out of shape.
2. Robbie Smith – 7
Accurate darts and solid work around the park. Did the basics well before making way as Saints turned the screw up front.
3. Trevor Davison – 8
A destructive presence. Saints’ scrum dominance peaked with Kemsley Mathias sent to the bin under sustained pressure. Davison was right at the heart of that.
4. Chunya Munga – 8
A massive defensive shift, topping the tackle count and repeatedly slamming the door shut. At 6’7 and 120kg, he gave Saints real ballast as they ground Scarlets down.
5. JJ van der Mescht – 8
Gigantic in the carry during the first half and a constant problem for Scarlets. A genuine weapon when Saints needed momentum.
6. Josh Kemeny – 7
Carried hard and kept things tidy. Not flashy, but effective in a pack that gradually imposed itself.
7. Sam Graham – 7
Meaty and miserable for opponents at the breakdown, picking up turnovers and punishing Scarlets on the deck before departing.
8. Henry Pollock – 7.5
Plenty of needle and energy, with a big 30-metre carry and strong work over the ball. Covered a lot of ground and never went looking for the quiet option.
9. Alex Mitchell – 6
A sloppy and costly moment early when charged down by Taine Plumtree for the Ryan Elias try, despite Saints setting a caterpillar ruck. Grew into the game but that error stuck out.
10. Anthony Belleau – 8
A solid rather than spectacular first half, but he clicked far better after the break. Kicked brilliantly all afternoon and steered Saints home.
11. Ollie Sleightholme – 7.5
Beat defenders regularly but accuracy wavered at times in the first half. Came alive after the restart with a searing break to finish a slick move.
12. Fraser Dingwall – 6
The midfield didn’t quite fire early on, with a few moves breaking down. Defensively sound, but turnovers lost hurt Saints’ fluency. The chemistry returned in the second forty.
13. Tommy Freeman – 5.5
Handling was a little buttery and not everything stuck, yet his assist for Todaro was well judged. Improved as the game opened up and still very much learning his trade at 13.
14. Edoardo Todaro – 9
Insane hunger for tries and first-class finishing. Three line breaks, a hat-trick before half-time and the engine to go wing to wing. Give him the ball and watch the scoreboard tick.
15. James Ramm – 5.5
Untidy in patches and missed far too many tackles, four in the first half alone. Did provide a tidy try assist, but defensive lapses kept dragging his mark down.
REPLACEMENTS – 6.5
Saints stayed on top with the bench on. Craig Wright scored off a rolling maul, Robbie Smith’s earlier accuracy set the platform, and Danilo Fischetti arrived fully charged after last week’s wobble. Callum Chick added bite and capped it with a late try to deny Scarlets a losing bonus point.
