Bundee Aki

Bundee Aki is one of the finest centres of his generation. He currently represents Connacht in the United Rugby Championship and has played for the Irish national team since 2017. Born in Auckland, New Zealand on 7 April 1990, Bundee Aki was born as Fua Leiofi Bundellu Aki. The nickname ‘Bundee’ was given to him by a rugby coach at under-age level. Bundee Aki’s professional rugby career began in 2011, when he represented Counties Manukau for the first time. After an impressive couple of seasons, he also began to represent the Chiefs. In 2013, he won the Super Rugby title with the team. However, ahead of the 2014-15 season, Aki decided to move to Ireland with Connacht. He’s played for the Irish province ever since, making more than 100 appearances for the side. During this time, he’s claimed one Pro12 title. After completing a three-year residency period in Ireland, Bundee Aki received his first call-up for the Irish national team in 2017. Since, he’s been a force on the international stage and has helped Ireland capture three Six Nations Championships, including two Grand Slams. In 2023, he was nominated for the prestigious World Rugby Men’s 15s Player of the Year award. Still playing his very best rugby, we can’t wait to see what else Bundee Aki can achieve for both Connacht and Ireland.
