Dan Lancaster joins former England prop in Scotland A squad
Former England U20 international Dan Lancaster has received his first Scotland call-up since moving to Glasgow Warriors in the summer.
The 24-year-old, who moved to Scotstoun from Racing 92, is one of 15 players to be named in the Scotland A squad that will take on Italy XV at Stadio Centro D’Italia – Manlio Scopigno on Friday, February 6, the day before the senior team take on Italy in the opening round of the Guinness Six Nations in Rome.
There is plenty of experience in the Scotland A squad, which also features Saracens flanker Andy Onyeama-Christie and Bath centre Cameron Redpath. Former England loosehead Alec Hepburn, who now has five caps for Scotland, has also been named in the squad.
Lancaster’s attack coach at Glasgow, Nigel Carolan, will take charge of the team, and will be assisted by fellow Glasgow Warriors assistant coach Scott Forrest and Edinburgh assistant coach Stevie Lawrie.
The Warriors’ uncapped hooker Gregor Hiddleston has also been named in the squad. The 23-year-old is fresh from a standout performance against Saracens in the Investec Champions Cup.
The remainder of the team will be made up of unused players from the senior squad.
