Munster keep the Ospreys grounded as Warriors demolish Connacht

Munster remain on top in Conference A after they recorded a hard-fought win away at the Ospreys in Friday’s Pro14 action.

Michael Haley’s 69th-minute try helped Munster prevail 19-13 at the Liberty Stadium, with the result putting a dent in their opponents’ play-off hopes.

The Ospreys looked set to go in ahead at the break until Sam Cross was yellow carded for denying a scoring opportunity, with Munster awarded a penalty try to take a 14-10 lead at half-time.

Luke Price kicked a penalty to close the gap but Haley’s score left the hosts having to settle for a losing bonus point, meaning they remain fourth in the table.

Glasgow Warriors crushed Connacht in a battle between second and third respectively in the same group, Grant Stewart and Robbie Nairn both grabbing a brace of tries for the Scottish side.

George Horne and Tim Swinson also touched down at Scotstoun as the Warriors ran out convincing 43-17 winners, with the bonus point helping them close the gap on leaders Munster.

In Conference B, leaders Leinster extended their comfortable cushion at the summit courtesy of a 59-19 result against Southern Kings.

Ulrich Beyers crossed for the Kings to cut the gap to 24-19 but Leinster added a further 35 points without reply, running in nine tries in total to give the final score a lopsided look.
