Sean Lynn’s team arrive at the tournament with a new captain in Kate Williams, a series of uncapped players and new assistant coaches.

For the past two seasons Wales have finished at the foot of the table, throw in a miserable Women’s Rugby World Cup campaign last year and the need for a positive campaign is at an all-time high.

Last month, Ashley Beck was appointed as Wales’ interim attack coach and Exeter Chiefs head coach Steve Salvin was added as interim forwards coach.

Seven-cap international, Beck, led Brython Thunder to a semi-final finish in the Celtic Challenge, coaching a side containing the likes of Kate Williams, Natalia John, Lisa Neumann and Seren Lockwood.

“Coming into camp is completely fresh, it’s almost stripping it back and starting from the beginning,” George told BBC Sport.

“Hopefully we can get more hands on ball because in the last few campaigns we’ve struggled to have that go forward and express ourselves as a backline.

“We’ve got powerful, pacey players that we can move the ball to and, with the shape we’re going in with, that’s the aim.”

In the opening round of the 2026 Guinness Women’s Six Nations, Wales will host Scotland at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium.

But while Scotland will be looking forward to a first hit out under a new head coach, Wales’ attentions are centred solely on themselves.

“It doesn’t matter who we’re coming up against in the first week, it’s the first game, so we really want to try and put a stamp down,” George said.

“It’s a fresh start, we’ve got new coaches coming in and a different style of playing.

“It’s the same for them, they’ve got new coaches. We don’t really know what they’re going to bring, but we’re concentrating on ourselves as much as we can. Obviously we’ll look a little bit at them, but the onus is on us.”
