Australia U20 head coach Chris Whitaker has named his 30-man squad for the 2026 World Rugby Junior World Championship.

The squad is headlined by the Queensland Reds’ teen sensation Treyvon Pritchard, who played 12 games in his debut season for the Brisbane-based club, including three starts while scoring two tries.

Pritchard’s Super Rugby teammate Tom Robinson will captain the team, having done so at the Rugby Championship U20 in April and May.

Waratahs players make up almost half the squad, signalling a bright future for Dan McKellar’s squad, with an even spread of positions among the 14 Sydney-based players. The Reds have contributed nine players to the squad, and the Brumbies have just three. While there are none directly from the Western Force, Wallace Charlie of the Australia Sevens program has been named in the squad as a Western Force member. Charlie is joined by Cooper Watters from the Sevens program, with Kingbenjamin Swerling-Finaipepe and Lehopoame Leota joining by way of France.

“We’re pretty excited, we’ve got a talented group and feel like we are ready to embrace the challenge of competing on this world stage,” coach Whitaker said.

“We have learnt a lot this year at both the Coffs Coast Festival of Rugby and The Rugby Championship, and we’ll take those learnings into Georgia with us.

“We have got a tricky pool with Spain, Fiji and the Six Nations champions, France, but we will go into the games with confidence and give it our all.”
