Former Bulls winger Madosh Tambwe is likely to stay with Union Bordeaux-Bègles (UBB) despite interest from several top clubs like Clermont Toulon and La Rochelle – according to Midi Olympique.

UBB’s president Laurent Marti now shows a preference for keeping the Congolese player within the team’s ranks a notable shift from earlier stances considering UBB’s depth in the winger position – with players like Louis Bielle-Biarrey, Damian Penaud. Pablo Uberti and rookie Maël Moustin.

Indeed Tambwe’s future at UBB seemed uncertain, especially with the potential arrival of promising talent Enzo Reybier from Oyonnax. The club initially appeared reluctant to renew his contract due to regulations favouring domestically trained players. Yet Tambwe’s exceptional performances particularly against Toulon in a historic victory for UBB at Mayol have tipped the scales in his favor.

Despite the allure of playing for other leading teams in the Top 14 and having explored options like visiting La Rochelle’s facilities and receiving an offer from Clermont Tambwe’s prospects of remaining with UBB have significantly improved. His recent on-field achievements have underscored his value to the team at a time when bolstering the winger position seems prudent.

Complicating matters Tambwe recently underwent surgery for a broken hand leaving him sidelined for at least three weeks. This development will see him miss the upcoming game against Castres a setback for the team. Nevertheless the decision to extend his contract with UBB despite the competitive interest from other clubs and his current injury reflects the high regard in which he is held and the strategic importance of retaining key talent for future competitions.
