Red Roses player ratings v Scotland | 2026 Guinness Women's Six Nations

EDINBURGH, SCOTLAND - APRIL 18: Emma Sing of England scores her team's fifth try during the Women's Guinness Six Nations 2026 match between Scotland and England at Scottish Gas Murrayfield on April 18, 2026 in Edinburgh, Scotland. After a slightly slow start out of the blocks a week ago at Allianz Stadium the Red Roses recovered at Scottish Gas Murrayfield to register an 84-7 win over Scotland.

Rhona Lloyd’s first-half try is the only qualm that John Mitchell could have with his team’s performance. Even then the England boss saw his side cross the whitewash on 12 occasions. Both Ellie Kildunne and Sarah Bern got two apiece. The world champions could not be contained.

At the end of 80 minutes of full blooded action, here is who impressed most under Murrayfield skies…

15. Emma Sing – 9

It was a pleasure to see Emma Sing in an England shirt playing just how she does for Gloucester Hartpury. That is to say, counter-attacking north to south, kicking exquisitely and acting as a second playmaker when the team needs it. Sterner tests await but a promising performance for England’s experiment in playing Kildunne and Sing together.

14. Jess Breach – 6

England’s resident Rolls-Royce never got out of the garage in Murrayfield but there were still several touches of high-quality link play. In her only real defensive test, she was out-paced by Rhona Lloyd when she had the angle on the Sale Shark.

13. Meg Jones – 8

With a trademark sidestep on Rhona Lloyd for England’s second try, the Red Roses’ captain set the tone for England’s gargantuan win.

12. Helena Rowland – 7

Who had Rowland and Jones as England’s post-world cup centre pairing? OK, we were all half right but moving Rowland alongside England’s captain has made England more unpredictable.

11. Ellie Kildunne – 8

It took seven minutes to suggest that the era of Ellie Kildunne as a winger might have feathers. Her raw speed to finish off England’s first try was world class. And she would have had a hat-trick within 22 minutes had she not dropped a pass from Feaunati with the line at her beck and call.

10. Zoe Harrison – 7

England’s fly-half was in reminder mode at Murrayfield. Reminding anyone who needed it, that she is the best-in-class No.10 in England. 12 from 12 kicks on goal, and faultless generally, whilst making it look effortless.

9. Lucy Packer – 6

With Natasha Hunt out for the rest of the Six Nations, England are minus a touch of flair this Six Nations. But Packer gives nothing away in terms of slick, decisive scrum-half play. Becoming more of a threat around the breakdown would be useful for England’s attack however.

8. Maddie Feaunati – 8

Perhaps this was the day that Maddie Feaunati emerged from the shadow of Alex Matthews to pose a real alternative for John Mitchell at No. 8. A classy and powerful afternoon from the Exeter Chief. Deserved her Player of the Match award.

7. Sadia Kabeya – 8

Complete mastery of the tight exchanges at Murrayfield, and she rampaged in the loose. Plus the usual truckload of work that we are accustomed to seeing from her in a Loughborough Lightning and international jersey.

6. Demelza Short – 7

Last summer, Demelza Short was considered too young for selection for England’s U20s squad. Still just 19 she has become a fully-fledged Red Rose. The smile on her face as she came off to be replaced was one of the great sights of the day in Murrayfield.

5. Lilli Ives Campion – 6

So central to England’s cause that her chances to get noticed in the loose were fewer than her teammates. Worked overtime to lay the foundations for England’s huge win.

4. Abi Burton – 7

Coming into this match, Abi Burton was effectively England’s sixth choice lock forward. Some sixth choice. She was excellent on her first ever England start in the second row. Could it be her position long-term?

3. Maud Muir – 8

Muir steadily become more and more monstrous across her 51 minutes at Murrayfield. Her leg drive in contact is immense and she delivered a characteristic performance on her 50th England cap. And she’s only 24.

2. Amy Cokayne – 6

Cokayne was again at the heart of England’s domineering set piece, helping herself to another Test try in the process – her fifth in her last five England matches.

1. Kelsey Clifford – 7

Back to her Women’s Rugby World Cup try-scoring tricks as part of a very good showing in all departments.

Replacements

16. Connie Powell – 6

Threw herself into the match and helped keep England ticking over nicely all the way to the finish line.

17. Mackenzie Carson – 7

Immediately after her introduction Mackenzie Carson won a penalty for England at the scum and sturdied a set piece that had struggled for ascendancy at times.

18. Sarah Bern – 8

Two tries off the bench. Which is pretty much what everyone expects from Sarah Bern when entering a Test match with fresh legs. She delivered, as she so often does.

19. Haineala Lutui – 6

Her first international try came from a typically powerful pick and go.

20. Marlie Packer – 7

The CV is still growing: Packer now up to 53 tries and 113 caps. She is handling the transition from frontliner to finisher with class, and of course, all her usual power.

21. Flo Robinson – 6

Searing break through the middle the highlight in a lively showing.

22. Holly Aitchison – 6

By the time Holly Aitchison got onto the pitch most of the hard work was done and helped the world champions see out the contest.

23. Mia Venner – 7

Smart finish for her 2nd England try on her 3rd appearance.

I’m not sure the author watched the same game as me, he is probably still in the bar. Feaunati had a brilliant game and was at least a 9, easily the player of the match. Sing was ok, had a couple of strong runs but not quick and able to break away. If he wants to persist with her, I think Mitchell might try her at 12 sometime as she is not really quick enough to play anywhere else in the backs. Her main attribute of kicking is not needed as all the other Red Rose kickers have been practising and are greatly improved. Harrison at least an 8 surely. Would give Sing a 7 as she did little wrong but nothing of any note. Let’s hope she goes back into the stands so that Kildunne can play in her best position. No idea why Lucy Packer or Breach should be 6s, both played well and at least 7s if not 8s. Ives Campion was excellent again and should really be an 8 as should Cockayne, do not understand a 6. Robinson looked at ease when she came on, but the Red Roses were 50 points clear by then,

Cant agree with this pundits ratings. lucy packer a 6 ? shes a lot of the reason there is such quick ruck ball. Harrison also better than a 7- 12/12 from the tee and good territorial kicking. Maddie feaunati was a 9 -carried brilliantly all day and rightly won player of the match. I suspect the pundit is a gloucester fan hence the 9 for Sing and marking packer down because shes not ‘fan favourite’ natasha hunt.Bit pathetic. Sing played well-an 8 but Maud muir and Feaunati were without doubt better. Muir should also have been a 9-superb carrying. scotland couldnt handle her at all.

I think your ratings are a lot more representative of the game I saw. L Packer, look at the average ruck speed throughout the game. Harrison, oozed class and decision making was excellent, exemplified by the dummy to kick, made a few metres before finding touch deep in Scotland territory. I wonder if Sing has final come of age in an England shirt. Muir was my player of the match, Feaunati the official POTM and Sing this commentator’s, tells you a lot about the performance of the team. Final mention for Flo Robinson, excellent when she came on and one for the future
