Major challenge awaits Glasgow as Bulls name team fully loaded with 14 Boks
Bulls head coach Johan Ackermann has made it quite clear that his side are heading to Scotstoun to win on Saturday by naming a full-strength side for their Investec Champions Cup round of 16 tie against Glasgow Warriors.
With the Bulls currently sat in eighth in the United Rugby Championship, just one point ahead of Connacht, there was a chance that a weakened side would be named for the Champions Cup clash in order to attack the remaining URC fixtures with a fresh and full-power side.
But the Bulls will be competing on both fronts this season, with a strong side running out in Glasgow on Saturday, including a first start for Cameron Hanekom since returning from his devastating hamstring injury.
While Glasgow will enter the tie as firm favourites given the season they’ve had, where they top the URC, the Pretoria-based outfit have a host of match-winners in their side, and will be steered by double World Cup winner Handre Pollard, who is no stranger to knockout rugby.
With a further four Springboks on the bench, including centurion Willie le Roux, Glasgow boss Franco Smith will be all too aware of the challenge that awaits. Le Roux will provide his experience from the bench, while 19-year-old Junior Bok Cheswill Jooste will start on the wing, having made a resounding impression this season with his pace.
