Leicester continue flurry of new deals with Jack van Poortvliet

Jack van Poortvliet has followed his England team-mates in signing a new deal with Leicester Tigers.

With Olle Chessum and Ollie Hassell-Collins already extending their stay at Welford Road, the 16-cap Englishman has followed suit.

The 23-year-old has already made 81 appearances for the Tigers since making his debut in 2019.

The scrum-half also marked his return to the Test arena this season, making his first appearance for England in over a year when he started against South Africa at Twickenham’s Allianz Stadium in November.

“I’m really pleased to be staying at Tigers,” van Poortvliet said.

“This place means a lot to me. Coming through the Academy, the U18s, all you want to do is play and win for the club.

“The group of players we have, the tight bonds in the squad, all of that goes into the decision but it’s also the supporters, the feeling of playing for a club that matters a lot to people.

“It’s special and I’m very happy to know my future is here at Tigers.”
