Gloucester have announced the signing of 31-year-old Samoan international tight-head, Marco Fepulea’i, ahead of the 2026/27 season.

New Zealand-born Fepulea’i came through the Blues’ system, making his NPC debut in 2020, before moving to America and winning the MLR with the LA Giltinis in 2021.

The 124kg prop then moved to France to join Colomiers in Pro D2, making 60 appearances in three seasons, as well as enjoying a Top 14/Champions Cup cameo on loan at Bayonne at the start of this season.

The eight-cap international completed the rest of the 2025/26 campaign in Pro D2 with Mont-de-Marsan, and has since been named in Samoa’s World Rugby Nations Cup squad.

“It’s no secret we’ve been looking to add experienced depth at tight head, so we’re really pleased to get this deal done,” said George Skivington, Gloucester’s head coach.

“We want our pack to have real physicality and edge next season, and Marco brings exactly that – presence, power and set piece strength. He’ll be a great addition.”

Fepulea’i added: “I’m delighted to be joining the club and making the move to the Gallagher PREM. It’s a huge step in my career and I’m excited to test myself in a new league.

“I can’t wait to get started at Gloucester Rugby. My focus is on working hard, earning the respect of the coaches, players and supporters, and contributing to the team.

“I pride myself on being physical on both sides of the ball, and I believe that’s something I can bring to the group.”

I find it amusing in these articles, that there seems a mandatory compulsion to mention the players weight.

Pperhaps a bit more nuance boys, you know…and he likes fine art and the music of Simon & Garfunkle.😂
