Glasgow extended their lead at the top of the United Rugby Championship to eight points after they cruised to a 38-17 bonus-point win at home to title rivals Leinster.

A lack of discipline hindered the visiting side’s hopes of cutting the gap at the top of the table as Brian Deeny and Ronan Kelleher were both sent to the sin bin during a first half in which the Warriors scored four tries.

Leinster had gone in front early through a try from young winger Joshua Kenny but collapsed before half-time with Macenzzie Duncan, Gregor Hiddleston and George Horne all going over as Leinster were made to pay for their indiscipline.

Kyle Rowe added a fourth before the break with the pick of the tries, bursting beyond Jimmy O’Brien and kicking ahead before skipping inside the defender on the line to bring up Glasgow’s bonus point.

Hugo Keenan crossed for the visitors before the interval – with Sam Prendergast converting – but there would be no fightback after the interval.

Typical fast attacking rugby from Glasgow which is great from a spectator point. Let’s not have a repeat of last year’s visit to Dublin though, we fell apart.

I think the abuse levelled by Glasgow players at Leinster players will come back to bite them later on in the season. Its only a league match on astro turf. Glasgow are talking about winning the Champions cup too. A bit early for the mouthy stuff I would have thought!

Glasgow’s 8-point lead will only be for 24 hours. It’s a 4-point lead really, which is only 1 game.

I thought the first yellow card was astounding. Don’t get me wrong it was a 100% yellow, but Glasgow on the front foot 5 metres out are likely to score. A few Leinster players fouling will mean a yellow followed shortly by the try. We are told a yellow usually = 7 extra points. So by committing a yellow card the players are NOT stopping a try they are collectively deciding to concede 14. If you get unlucky with an accidental head contact then you are down to 13 and its match over.

Good attacking performance by Glasgow and a well earned victory. Another tick mark towards attacking rugby at the expense of the rush defence. Leinster throwing numbers into the defending rucks with 13 men was madness. Glasgow easily piled in for 21 points. Once Glasgow had their league all they had to do was leave the rucks alone and fan out. A Nienaber type team has no answers. In other words all a second string Glasgow had to do against a once great attacking team like Leinster was not contest attacking rucks. He was a great coach for SA who played a limited defensive game. Surely it is clear now that it is not working out. Nienaber is a great coach but the system does not suit Leinster. They need to play the Irish way.

I don’t think Leinster will win anything this year but Glasgow’s antagonising of Leinster players towards the end was foolish. It was a club match and Glasgow will have to face then possibly twice again in Knock out matches. Leinster will be especially up for those. I don’t like that behaviour in rugby, never mind the URC. The ref was poor in letting it get that far. If a player is attempting to provoke opponents they should be penalized then carded.

One of the Scottish players afterwards pointedly saying that Glasgow were playing the game the way “It was intended to be played” was amusing. Life isn’t like that lad.

The Kelleher yellow was a bit harsh I thought and probably turned the game. but Glasgow were the better side across the park. Shout out to Ventisei on debut v Ioane, played really well. Samuel and Craig monsters in the engine room tonight.

A Nienaber team isn’t able to come back from a deficit. We saw it against Northampton and very clear here again.

Kellehers yellow looked a bit harsh but correct according to the laws.

Keenan appeared to get a much worse shoulder to the head from a late tackle. Penalty was given but I expected at least a yellow. Ref wasn't interested in a second look at it
