'They both fully deserve this opportunity': Wales include two new caps against Scotland
Sean Lynn has included a pair of debutants in his Wales squad to take on Scotland in Round 1 of the 2026 Guinness Women’s Six Nations.
Lock forward Jorja Aiono and wing Seren Singleton will both start the Test at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium. Each enjoyed strong Celtic Challenge seasons with Brython Thunder as the team went to the semi-final stage.
Singleton scored three tries for Thunder this season and completes a back three with Harlequins duo Lisa Neumann and Kayleigh Powell. Aiono is partnered by Brython teammate Gwen Crabb in the second row.
The team will be led by their new captain Kate Williams in the Welsh capital. Williams is joined in the back-row by Bethan Lewis and Bryonie King.
In total there are 10 players that competed in the Celtic Challenge for either Brython Thunder or Gwalia Lightning in 2025/26.
Sean Lynn, Wales head coach, said: “We have focussed on what we need to do and building the identity of this Wales team. We are all aware of the privilege and responsibility we have of representing Wales in the Guinness Six Nations.
“The players know we are representing the nation, our families and ourselves and this is an opportunity to show who we are and what it means to wear the red jersey.
“It’s a real privilege to name two new caps, Jorja Aiono and Seren Singleton, in this Wales side. They both fully deserve this opportunity and have impressed in the Celtic Challenge and in camp.
“Jorja has a real physicality and edge to her game that we need and Seren’s work ethic and willingness to put her body on the line for the cause are the attributes we are looking for.
“We know Scotland will pose a major challenge, but this is all about us and implementing the new processes and showing the grit and determination we have seen in camp.”
There is no place in the team for experienced duo Carys Phillips [87 caps] or Jasmine Joyce [53 caps].
