Sisilia Tuipulotu Bio

Sisilia Tuipulotu was born in Newport, Wales on 14 August 2003. Her father is Sione Tuʻipulotu, who won 29 caps for Tonga between 1997 and 2008.

Tuipulotu was a talented netball player during her younger years, and her parents frowned upon her playing rugby through a fear she would get hurt. However, she ultimately convinced them and switched to rugby in order to follow in her father’s footsteps. He played lots of his domestic rugby in Wales, including stints at both Caerphilly RFC and Newport Gwent Dragons.

Despite her father playing internationally for Samoa, Sisilia Tuipulotu elected to play for Wales, the country of her birth. She made her international debut in the Six Nations against Ireland in 2022. She’s since started to establish herself in the Wales squad and was named in her country’s squad for the 2025 Rugby World Cup

Domestically, Sisilia Tuipulotu plies her trade for Gloucester-Hartpury. She joined the club midway through the 2020-21 season and has been a mainstay ever since.

Although Wales failed to break out of the pool stage, Tuipulotu featured in all of their matches at the 2025 Rugby World Cup. Her physicality in the front row and ability to contribute in attack helped her cross the try line seven times and highlighted her status as one of Wales’s key forwards.

With her best years still ahead of her, we can’t wait to see what else Sisilia Tuipulotu can achieve in the game.
