Fans will have the power to settle long-running debates this Super Rugby Pacific season, with a new supporter-driven campaign celebrating the best players from the past 30 years. The Legends XV will be voted on each week, before a definitive list of all-time greats is revealed in June.

All 11 Super Rugby teams will nominate players from each position, with fans then asked to vote on who the club greats are. These votes will determine the Club Legends XV before the second phase of the Legends XV campaign.

Those 15 players from each club will progress to the second round of voting, which starts on February 9. There will also be one wildcard player per position included, from clubs that are no longer part of Super Rugby.

Fans will be able to vote on a different position every week, with contenders revealed on Monday and the results announced on Sunday. The Legends XV will be finalised in early June, with that list celebrating 30 years of Super Rugby.

“For 30 years, Super Rugby has produced some of the most iconic players and moments in world rugby,” Jack Mesley, CEO of Super Rugby Pacific, said in a statement.

“The Legends XV gives fans a genuine voice in recognising the players who have shaped the competition over the past three decades.

“We can’t wait to see who is chosen at club level, and then see these epic players go up against each other for a place in the ultimate Super Rugby Legends XV.
