'Nic White diving school': Cam Roigard under fire for tip tackle incident with Reinach

All Blacks halfback Cam Roigard has been accused of diving during the incident late in the first half where he was up ended by opposite No.9 Cobus Reinach.

Roigard attempted to tackle Reinach at the base of the scrum, not aware initially that referee Nika Amushukeli had blown a penalty try.

When Roigard backed off, Reinach flipped him over aggressively with Roigard landing awkwardly. From the restart, the All Blacks were handed a penalty but no card was issued.

Former Springbok midfielder Jean de Villiers made a point in commentary to call out Roigard for “gamesmanship”.

“A lot has been said about gamesmanship, and I will call it out there. This game of ours is a pride one. Taking a dive. Yes, (Reinach) kind of ripped him backwards but it was certainly not a tip-tackle. A penalty at most,” he said.

Many South African fans on X were equally critical of Roigard, comparing him to Neymar the Brazilian footballer and Nic White.

It’s not the first time this year that Roigard has been criticism for “play acting” hurt, with his play against the Blues in Super Rugby coming under fire.

After contact in the aerial collision with Beauden Barrett, Roigard stayed down until a penalty was blown, before getting straight to his feet and taking a quick tap while the Blues forwards were checking on him.
