All Blacks halfback Cam Roigard has been accused of diving during the incident late in the first half where he was up ended by opposite No.9 Cobus Reinach.

Roigard attempted to tackle Reinach at the base of the scrum, not aware initially that referee Nika Amushukeli had blown a penalty try.

When Roigard backed off, Reinach flipped him over aggressively with Roigard landing awkwardly. From the restart, the All Blacks were handed a penalty but no card was issued.

Former Springbok midfielder Jean de Villiers made a point in commentary to call out Roigard for “gamesmanship”.

“A lot has been said about gamesmanship, and I will call it out there. This game of ours is a pride one. Taking a dive. Yes, (Reinach) kind of ripped him backwards but it was certainly not a tip-tackle. A penalty at most,” he said.

Many South African fans on X were equally critical of Roigard, comparing him to Neymar the Brazilian footballer and Nic White.

Former Springbok Rob Louw posted a photo of Cam Roigard alongside Nic White holding Oscars trophies.

It’s not the first time this year that Roigard has been criticism for “play acting” hurt, with his play against the Blues in Super Rugby coming under fire.

After contact in the aerial collision with Beauden Barrett, Roigard stayed down until a penalty was blown, before getting straight to his feet and taking a quick tap while the Blues forwards were checking on him.

It was such bad acting that it was hilarious.

Didnt see any Safas jump on the Moral Pedestal when Kolbe swan dived at end of 2nd Test vs Ireland in 2024 to try and milk a penalty. What a bunch of losers.

Under World Rugby’s laws on foul play, Law 9.18 states that a player must not lift an opponent and then drop or drive them so that their head and/or upper body makes contact with the ground.

However, there is another element to the incident. Law 9.14 states that a player must not tackle an opponent who is not in possession of the ball, while Law 9.15 also prohibits certain forms of holding, pushing, charging or obstructing an opponent without the ball.

Why are SA supporters not worried about Marx fake, play acting 3 times in the game faking injury, should be a yellow card for poor sportsmanship

Roigard was clearly tipped by Reinach, stop the BS. There was nothing in it anyway. Safas are such desperados to cast shade everywhere but themselves.

make it a yellow card offence

Temu Ben lol I love that! Fits perfectly with his pathetic writing! In what universe is Roigard backing off? Why was he interfering and tackling Reinach in the first place! Ball was still at Wiese’s feet, that was already a cynical act! Your writing is as bad as Roigards acting! Alot of respect for Roigard lost after seeing that clip of him in SRP aswell as last night!

Lol i dont cant even read your dumb articles anymore, I’ll just keep coming to laugh at the comments! Keep it up boys!

ABs supporter here: Roigard antics shameful. Reinach throwing him off fully justified and not a penalty.

Roigard backing off?? Seriously TEMU Ben?? This is almost as pathetic as the Roigard Oscar effort.

Disgraced our country. Should be on a plane home, or tarred and rolled in chicken feathers in Baltimore or both. That is absolutely not our way and there should be consquence.

Diving is clearly against the spirit of rugby. Surely the NZ rugby high priests will call this out, right?

Not what I expect from

AB player.. this is not soccer.

What really irks me about this is how referees and TMOs, watching the same replays as everyone else, can’t see what we can all see.

If there was one rule change I’d lobby for it would be to eliminate the involvement of ARs in TMO reviews.

1. The referee and TMO must surely be able make a sensible call without the flagsmen.

2. As soon as the ARs chime in it seems to become an echo chamber for the most Nancy/Nanny state outcome possible.

Butt out.

Dave Rennie should drop him for the next test. Send a clear message about the spirit of the game.

Whole-heartedly agree. Its disgraceful behaviour, I dont care if he’s the last half-back in NZ.

Its unbelieveable, when he had the World at his feet. Hes revealed himself now though.

And besides, we dont need to be throwing fire at the gawdamn Springboks!!?#**

Reinier 46 days ago

Will never happen; Rennie is of the same essence and nearly managed to sully this wonderful series and the entire AB-SA rugby history with his constant whining abiut the scrums. The analysis presented by Matfield post the 2nd test clearly showed the Abs are the ones setting skew but still Rennie moaned about SA. The coach, like his player, is a poor reflection on the game and therefore cannot act against the actions of the player.

World rugby should take a strong atance against it and ban the player for 12 weeks - stomp it out before we end up like football! Roigard has now gotten away withnit twoce and Nic White too. Sadly, the kids are watching this and learning this pathetic behaviour from their “heroes”; I saw it in a school game a few weeks ago. Shocking!!

Not the first time Roigard is feigning injury to milk a penalty. It’s despicable. Some commentators complain about the sportsmanship of Rassie changing his starting team from the 23 on his team sheet. Here we have Roigard tackling his opposition without the ball, then feigning injury when he falls on the ground to milk a penalty. That’s the height of poor sportsmanship. We need Nigel Owens to tell him to go play soccer.

It really detracts from his reputation. That Blues incident earlier this year was disgusting. Because rugby is generally a non fake game, when someone is injured, players stop to help. If it turns into a diving match like soccer, players will ignore injury because they won't know if it's real or fake. And then someone could really get hurt. He should be sanctioned.

R
Reinier 46 days ago

Refs should yellow card players who feign injury like that. Rougard’s head was nowhere near the ground but he lay there clutching it like he was suffering a brain bleed. He should have gotten a yellow for the dive and/or the original cynical foul to prevent Reinach playing the ball.

Pathetic! Reprehensible! Cowardly! Football-style CHEAT!

Cam Roigard is against the spirit of the game.

Cam has made his bed, standard kiwi “games”. Noticed a few kiwis clutching their faces after legit tackles in the hope the TMO would intervene.

D
Drewski 46 days ago

You don't want rugby players to act like this. This was ridiculous from Roigard. He was highly regarded by most rugby fans. I reckon he lost quite a lot of stock.

C

Clearly some football theatrics I think they ABs spend a lot of time on how to cheat it's part of their DNA

W
Wayneo 46 days ago

The absolute desperation to scrape together a few salty tweets to build a “The Springboks are the bad guys" narrative is truly a masterclass in sportswriting grief.

Stay mad, Ben.

The tears are delicious😭
