Argentina's Albornoz charged following altercation with match officials

Argentina’s flyhalf Tomás Albornoz has been issued with misconduct charges following his side’s close 31-24 loss to England at Estadio Único Madre de Ciudades.
World Rugby confirmed that Albornoz that the flyhalf will face a hearing for his conduct after the final whistle which saw an altercation with referee Angus Gardner.
After consultation with the TMO, a potential late try to Bautista Delguy was overturned leading to an emotionally charged ending.
Albornoz will be the first player to be adjudicated under the new Match Official Abuse Sanction Process, which was agreed at the recent Shape of the Game forum.
Italy coach Gonzalo Quesada was sanctioned a one-match ban following his comments in the wake of his team’s loss to the All Blacks in round two.
The Match Official Abuse Sanction Process was introduced to complement Regulation 18 and provide a clearer and more consistent framework for addressing public criticism of match officials, particularly where such comments may contribute to wider online abuse.
Agreed by competition owners, match officials and Union CEOs, the new process was implemented to support and protect match officials.
