All Blacks legend weighs into Ireland: 'They've turned into a pack of whingers'

I watched the Virgin media coverage. I can only assume Marshall didn’t. I didn’t witness any excuses being offerred for Irelands loss.

At no point did any pundit even hint that NZ would not have won if the match was reffed differently. One actually said that Ireland was lucky the brain fart head hit happened when it did because Ireland was about to go 21-0 down!

There was annoyance over the yellow knock on non call, but one pundit pointed out Preendergast lucky with not being penalized first half and the mid air tackle on Love deserves further scrutiny.

A big one for Ireland was how the ruck was reffed but as I recall that was 2-1 of the 3 pundits backing the ref there more or less. Once said maybe too much coaching form him and to just penalize infringements.

They were very tough on Irish poor play but said that in the first half Ireland had generally played OK, but that NZ excellent attack was to be commended.

Stephen Jones was the absolute worst rugby writer of all time but the Irish media are not too far behind. Yes Marshy, you are right. They squeal like stuck pigs over the smallest issue. Think back to the accidental head knock by Cane in Dublin after we’d lost in America. OMG. Ireland were terrible in Auckland. While agree we got the rub of the green on those card calls, Ireland were handing the game to us with simple mistakes.

A stupid comment from a stupid man. Of course fans are going to point out injustices. There were three glaringly obvious ones in that match, the red that never was, the yellow that never was and blowing up before the match was over. In what world would any fan base not mention these bad calls? But no Irish fan is saying Ireland deserved to win the game or that these decisions changed the outcome. And certainly no player or coach has even mentioned the bad decisions. Pundits will do what pundits are paid to do, ie analyse the talking points of the game and these three were obvious bad calls, so I don't know what this clown is criticising them for.

Is yes they did, Ireland were woeful and seemed to have both eyes on the hit instead of the ball and lost forward on numerous occasions

Spot on Marshy! They need some of the cool, calm, respectful introspection New Zealanders showed in 2022 when Ireland won that series… we didn’t even mention the TMO, did we?

Hard to disagree but have to say it is mostly ex-Irish players and pundits who are moaning - not AF or the team. So, Justin Marshall is quite within his rights to call that group out also. And the points he made are valid.

Marshall was a tit when he was playing and still a tit now as a pundit. As a Kiwi and an AB fan, he needs to put a sock in it.

Apparently this is all Nienaber’s fault. For modernising Leinster’s defence. Now the confused Leinster players cannot adapt to Farrells defence. What a disaster.

Not sure if Marshall wasn’t paying attention to the past, Ireland have always been whingers just like the Aussies.

There’s not a single fanbase amongst all tier 1 and most tier 2 teams that don’t behave like this online. It’s framed to sound like he’s talking about the actual team themselves because he knows that’ll get engagement, Andy Farrell is one of the least likely coaches to talk about refereeing or decisions that go against us often to our detriment. When asked about both of the non card decisions he moved on without comment in the presser after the match.

Yet again it’s the same pot kettle black with these kiwi pundits, they should read their own fanbases forums or even actually listen to their own players comments for a change instead of assuming they’re the arbiters of moral authority with a blank slate.
