GRAMMY award winning artist Meghan Trainor has been unveiled as one of the latest investors in Women’s Elite Rugby.

Ahead of the competition’s second season – which starts on Saturday 2 May – Trainor has joined the competition less than a week after her latest album, Toy With Me, was released.

Phil Camm, WER’s Chief Commercial Officer, said: “Meghan’s investment in WER is a game-changer. Her example as a role model for women who are powerful, uncompromising, and unapologetic about their talent makes her an extraordinary partner and we couldn’t be more thrilled to have her on board.

“Joining us at this pivotal moment, Meghan amplifies the momentum behind women’s rugby and the confidence in the sport’s future.”

In WER’s first season the Denver Onyx were champions and provided the platform for several players to be catapulted into Sione Fukofuka’s USA Women’s Eagles squad for Women’s Rugby World Cup 2025.

As part of Trainor’s investment, WER broadcasts will feature the singer-songwriters’ single, Shimmer. It is also belief that the 32-year-old’s brand aligns with that of the sophomore professional rugby competition.

There is a strong track record of American celebrities investing in rugby competitions. In Major League Rugby, Super Bowl winners Nate Ebner and Patrick Chung are owners of the New England Free Jacks, while Marshawn Lynch and Marcus Peters are on the Seattle Seawolves’ ownership group.

Meghan Trainor said: “I’m over the moon to be working with WER. Their mission feels perfectly aligned with the message I’m always trying to spread with my music.

“It’s so exciting to be able to support this incredible group of women as they create a place for themselves in a typically male-dominated industry. I can’t wait for an incredible season!”

The first round of the 2026 season will see the Boston Banshees host the New York Exiles and the Twin Cities Gemini travel to the Chicago Tempest on Saturday 2 May. On Sunday 3 May the Bay Breakers will host the Denver Onyx.
