Picture perfect start for Bulls Daisies continues in Women's Super League

The Blue Bulls Daisies have continued to dominate the top of the Pick n Pay Women’s Super League 1 table.

On Saturday afternoon Bongiwe Nhleko’s side beat second-place Western Province 50-22 in Cape Town.

So far this season the Daisies have picked up every point on offer to them and have scored 242 points in 320 minutes on the pitch. They have conceded only 33 points in that time.

It was a highly competitive clash on the Western Cape as the hosts registered all their points in the first half through Shaunique Hess, Anelisiwe Mxabo, Babalwa Latsha, Alichia Arries and an Elme Kruger conversion.

The Daisies had a 26-22 half-time lead before Lebogang Ralebona, Shaunique Alexander and a Thobile Msizazwe brace put the contest beyond any doubt.

Two players scored hat-tricks for the Boland Dames in Gqeberha as the Western Cape team registered a 41-29 victory.

Springboks Women No.8 Aseza Hele was one of the players that crashed over the whitewash three times on the contest. Tereske Kabuika bagged three tries of her own and Eloise Webb was Boland’s only other try scorer that afternoon.

The Golden Lions Women continued to impress with a 32-7 victory against Border.

Kamogelo Thloloe got a brace in the contest while Xoliswa Khuzwayo, Rumandi Potgieter, Siyonela Macamba and Ntsako Mbombi were also scorers.

Border’s sole try came from Zahara Makhomazi and Khanya Ketani added the conversion.

In the final game of the weekend Sharks Women picked up their first win of the Women’s Super League 1 season.

Jason Hector’s team rode their luck at times in Bloemfontein against the Free State Women to pick up a 33-19 try scoring bonus point victory.

Sharks opened the opening two tries of the game but only had a 14-7 lead at the break after Anelca Hess cut the deficit.

To put the end result beyond any doubt Sharks scored three tries in the second 40 minute block.

By full-time Sinenhlanhla Cebekhulu had a brace, while Owami Zikhali, Cebisa Gumede and Kwanele Zungu had all dotted down for Sharks.
