Last year the tournament took place in Mumbai, but will now take place at Gachibowli Stadium. There is hope to grow the competition in its second year and continue the growth of rugby in India.

The same six franchises from 2025 will feature in the second season, including reigning champions Chennai Bulls.

Rahul Bose, President of Rugby India, said: “With everything one does in life, the quest is to always do better, be better, deliver better. That will continue to be the cornerstone of the RPL.

“Building a world-class property will never be enough. We will always strive to deliver a better product for our fans, do better by our sponsors and last but not least, be better partners to our franchises, their owners and support staff.

“2026 RPL at the Gachibowli Stadium in Hyderabad sets out to achieve all this and more. We promise a better fan experience, an even more thrilling quality of world-class rugby and a brilliant television and OTT product.

“As always, we cannot do anything alone. We rely on all our partners, including the media, to guide, advise and be the wind beneath our wings.”

Last year the RPL captured the attention across the world. This was primarily because of its global pulling power, seeing the likes of Scott Curry, Pol Pla, Terry Kennedy, Jordan Conroy, Henry Hutchinson and Jerry Tuwai sign up.

There was also an all-star coaching line-up. Ben Gollings, who also coaches India’s senior men’s national team, led the Chennai Bulls to glory, while Tomasi Cama, Mike Friday, Tim Walsh, DJ Forbes and Francisco Hernández.

The 2026 edition of RPL will take place between 16-28 June 2026.
