New Bath signing Henry Arundell set to revive England career
Now that his French exile is over, Henry Arundell has joined the England squad for the four-day training camp currently taking place at Pennyhill Park.
Arundell, who has signed for Bath ahead of the start of the 2025/26 season, was not eligible for selection whilst he was playing in the Top 14 with Racing 92.
Rugby Football Union rules do not allow English players based abroad to play for the national side. The controversial rule placed the full-back/winger’s Test career on hold, although he was given special dispensation for a short period after London Irish went bust, causing him to cross the channel in pursuit of a contract.
Before moving to Paris, the 22-year-old scored seven tries in 10 appearances for England, including a record-equalling five against Chile at the 2023 World Cup.
None of Arundell’s new Bath team-mates, or players from their Gallagher Premiership final opponents Leicester, are involved in the training camp due to their involvement in domestic rugby’s showpiece occasion this Saturday, nor those selected for the British & Irish Lions.
This week’s training forms part of the preparations for the upcoming match between an England XV and a France XV at Allianz Stadium, Twickenham on Saturday 21 June (kick-off 3.15pm).

Henry Arundell returning to the England squad is a no brainer.
nah it actually makes very little sense.
Josh Hodge should be in the squad ahead of him, as should Jack Cotgreave. Steward and Hassell-Collins should both be in when the real squad is announced next week.
Arundell is a very good player, but there’s better options available.
