The quality of the Team GB sevens program is being put to good use in the home nations, with Welsh URC side Ospreys and Champ Rugby side Cornish Pirates locking down two stars from the program for their respective 2026-27 rugby seasons.

Starting in Wales, scrumhalf Harri Williams, who has represented Wales U20 on 12 occasions before playing for GB Sevens, extended his current contract by an additional year after an injury-affected inaugural season in Swansea.

Having started his career at Scarlets, Williams has also played for English Championship side Ampthill and also spent time in the Australian premier rugby system, playing rugby for Canberra premier grade side Tuggeranong Vikings.

After transitioning back into 15s in 2025, the scrumhalf only made the field for one match in the 2025-26 season due to injury, playing in his side’s 21-14 loss to Connacht in March this year.

“It was a season of mixed emotions for me,” Williams said in a statement.

“I picked up a tough injury early on in the season which was difficult, but I managed to get through that and finally make my debut for the club, which was a real privilege.

“The medical team and S&C staff worked really hard to get me in a place to make my first appearance and I would like to take this opportunity to thank them for that.

“Being out with a longer-term injury is never easy, but being around this group of players every day definitely helped me to keep pushing to get back fit.

“I really want to pay that back this season by improving and helping this team in whatever way I can.”

“Harri worked extremely hard in training last season, so it was a real shame that he picked up the injury when he did,” Ospreys head coach Mark Jones added.

“It says a lot about his character that he was able to get back to a place where he could contribute for us towards the end of the season.”

“With Reubs and Kieran often away on international duty, it’s important for us to [have] a quality crop of scrum halves, and we feel we definitely have that with Luke and Harri both still a part of our playing group.”

Across the Bristol Channel, Josh Radcliffe is set to provide an injection of speed in the back three for second division Champ Rugby side Cornish Pirates, signing on a one-year deal.

Having previously played for Waikato Chiefs and New Zealand Universities before jumping over to the Team GB side last year, Radcliffe is one of two new arrivals from sevens, with Australian 7s star and Super Rugby winger Henry Palmer also signing on.

Radcliffe had a busy 2025-26 HSBC SVNS World Series, appearing in all but two events, while Palmer made the transition to 15s playing with the Western Force, playing in Super Rugby AUS before being named in the side’s 2026 Super Rugby Pacific squad.

“I’m really grateful for the opportunity to join the Pirates,” Radcliffe said to Voice.

“I’ve heard great things about the club. I’m looking forward to meeting the team and getting stuck in this season.”

Pirates head coach Gavin Cattle is excited about what both prospects can bring for the Cornish side, who just missed out on play-offs in the 2025-26 season.

“He’s [Radcliffe] tall, rangy and athletic,” Cattle said.

“His versatility across the backline gives us good balance. He’s keen to prove himself and progress his rugby, and we are looking forward to welcoming him and helping him progress.

“Henry has all the attributes you would look for in a winger and certainly has the kind of pace you would expect from an international sevens player.

“He’s got a rounded game that will transfer well to 15s and has already demonstrated his versatility in the 15-a-side game back in Australia. I’m confident he will be a valuable addition to the group.”
