Worcester Warriors announce second signing ahead of return
Worcester Warriors have signed Leicester Tigers wing Josh Bassett ahead of next season, where they will return to professional rugby in England’s second division.
The 33-year-old is the club’s second signing, following the announcement of Matt Kvesic’s return on Wednesday. Like Kvesic, Bassett brings a wealth of Gallagher Premiership experience across various clubs. The former England U20 international spent almost a decade at Wasps before the club’s demise in 2022. Following a short stint at Harlequins, he joined Leicester in 2023, where he has remained.
Bassett will face two of his former sides next season with the Warriors- Bedford Blues, whom he started his professional career with, and Ampthill, the club he represented in his youth.
The move will also see the wing reunite with his former Wasps team-mate Matt Everard, who will coach the Warriors next season.
“Worcester Warriors have always been a club with incredible heart and grit, and I couldn’t be more excited to be part of what’s happening here,” Bassett said.
“I’m ready to make some unforgettable memories with this squad and the fans.
Everard added: “Josh Bassett has been one of the outstanding wingers in Premiership rugby in the past decade.
“As a youth player at Bedford Blues, he stood out immediately with his athleticism and his nose for the try line. His professional mindset to absolutely maximise himself is something I have respected for a very long time.
“Not only that, Josh’s amazing character within a squad to bring a group of people together as he shows a lot of care to his team-mates, the management team and everyone involved in the rugby clubs he has been at. He is the perfect person and player for what we are building here at Worcester Warriors.”
