Saracens’ pursuit of a late Premiership semifinal push received a timely boost with a rampant 85 – 19 win over the Sale Sharks at CorpAcq Stadium.

Striking early through Rotimi Segun, the Londoners overwhelmed their hosts on both sides of the ball.

Stealing the show once again against the Sharks, 19-year-old winger Noah Calouri scored 5 tries to take his tally to 10 in two matches against Alex Sanderson’s side. In total Calouri has scored 23 tries in 21 outings for Saracens since making his debut earlier this season.

Offering only one moment of respite when Tom O’Flaherty crossed for Sale’s lone try early in the second half, Mark McCall’s side rediscovered their ruthless edge moments later with the first of their six second half tries.

On a day that reiterated their title credentials with a record Premiership win, here is how the Saracens players rated.

1. Rhys Carre – 8
Continued his hot streak winning scrum penalties, slipping offloads and clattering through contact. His ability to play the ball kept the Saracens multiphase game rolling forward at a rate of knots. Securing the bonus point for his side in the 34th minute, the loosehead blasted through three Sharks’ defenders.

2. Jamie George – 7.5
Hit his markers at line-out time and got through 9 tackles, the veteran hooker had a composed outing. With ball in hand, George had a few silky touches in the build-up to a few of his side’s tries.

3. Marcus Street – 7
Put in a rock solid shift at scrum time to set the platform for his explosive backrow. Street gave a young Sale front row plenty of problems during his 50 minutes on the pitch.

4. Maro Itoje – 7
Doing what he does best, the England skipper stunted the usually potent Sale maul early in the contest. Limiting their hosts’ greatest weapon instantly had his side on the front foot.

5. Hugh Tizard – 7
Mirroring the performance of his lock partner, Tizard was industrious throughout the contest. Bossing the breakdown, playing a key role at line-out time with his lifts and putting in a solid defensive shift. It was a no nonsense outing for Tizard.

6. Theo McFarland – 8
One dropped line-out poach aside, the backrow was top notch. Sitting close to the top of the carry charts for his side, McFarland rode Sale tackles to always make forward progress.

7. Ben Earl – 8
Unusually quiet in terms of splash plays during the first half, Earl was immensely efficient in the less glamorous aspects of play, cleaning up loose balls, sitting near the top of the tackle and carry charts. As the fatigue began to hit the legs of the Sale defenders, Earl’s relentless efforts bore fruit with a well taken try.

8. Tom Willis – 8.5
Unplayable at times, the Bordeaux bound number eight outmuscled his hosts with each contact. Willis made easy yards in the carry whilst routinely getting his hands free to create opportunities for those around him. His 17th minute try encapsulated what makes him arguably the best backrow in the Prem when he powered through multiple defenders to dot down.

9. Charlie Bracken – 8
A mature performance from a player still firmly in the infancy of his professional career. Picked his opportunities to pin in Sale defenders at the breakdown winning his side a few key penalties. Across the board, Bracken bossed the tempo of the contest keeping his side thundering forward at a rate that Sale simply could not live with. Shutting down any chance of a Sale fightback, Bracken’s try early in the second half was the cherry on top of a top quality performance.

10. Fergus Burke – 8.5
Did exactly what his side required of him, kicked well when needed and was comfortable to get multiple touches in phase play. Keeping tight shapes in attack, Burke frustrated and narrowed the Sale defence before punishing them out wide with long passes. Showing great pace to chase a loose ball, the out-half secured his side’s fifth try of the first half.

11. Rotimi Segun – 8

Slipped through the fingertips of his opposite number Tom O’Flaherty for the opening try with a superb left foot step. This dominance between the tramlines would remain a key theme all match long. Departing in the 47th minute having beaten 7 defenders says it all for his performance.

12. Olly Hartley – 7.5
Central to his side’s ability to boss the gain line. Hartley topped the tackle charts for the Saracens’ backs whilst in attack he routinely punctured the Sale defensive system.

13. Nick Tompkins – 6.5
In a clash where the Saracens backline were rampant, Tompkins did a top job of facilitating for those around him. In the fleeting moments that Saracens’ required a defensive front, Tompkins was front and centre.

14. Noah Calouri – 9.5
Set out his stall early leaping above the Sale jumpers to disrupt the opening kick-off. Ten minutes later the young winger would dot down for the first of his three tries to bring his tally to 21 tries on the season. Away from the scoresheet, Calouri comprehensively outplayed the Sale back three in the air. Arguably even more impressive than his aerial prowess, the 19-year-old dominated Sale players at the point of contact.

15. Max Malins – 7.5

Sliced through the Sale defence with his first kick return opportunity to feed Noah Calouri who crossed the line at a canter. This ability to find creases in the Sale defence continued all contest with the fullback routinely finding himself in open prairie.

16. Theo Dan – 7.5

Brought his trademark ‘hair on fire’ style of play for the final 30 minutes of the contest. Rampaging through Sale defenders, Dan enjoyed the fast and loose clash he was tailor made for.

17. Eroni Mawi – 6.5
Not quite the barnstorming showing of Carre but the Fijian international certainly did not let his side down.

18. Marco Riccioni – 6.5
Similar to Mawi, the damage was by and large done by the time he entered the contest. Still the Italian got through plenty of work for a solid performance.

19. Harry Wilson – 5
Made a couple of tackles and had a carry but outside of this, the 29-year-old was relatively quiet.

20. Nathan Michelow – 6.5
Had a few nice carries and cleaned up a loose ball that could’ve seen Sale sneak the most unlikely of four try bonus points. Instead the backrow regathered possession and ended the contest.

21. Ivan van Zyl – 6.5
Had a high bar to match in the wake of Bracken’s exceptional showing. Doing just that, the Springbok scrumhalf kept his side rolling.

22.Owen Farrell – 6.5
Slotted in seamlessly, the former England captain simply picked up where Burke left off. His missed opening conversion will frustrate him but on the whole Farrell did exactly what his side required of him.

23.Angus Hall – 6
Had a few nice splash moments in a contest where his side were firmly on the front foot.
