'Intelligent' Wales scrum-half Jones extends Gloucester Hartpury stay

Wales international scrum-half Sian Jones has extended her stay with three-time JAECOO Premiership Women’s Rugby champions Gloucester Hartpury.

The 22-year-old, who won her first caps for Wales in the 2024 Guinness Women’s Six Nations, has not played for her country since the 2025 edition of the Championships.

This season Jones made nine appearances for Gloucester Hartpury as the team left the competition at the semi-final stages and were unable to win a fourth title in a row.

Three of those appearances came as starts – with Natasha ‘Mo’ Hunt’s season-ending injury sustained on Women’s Six Nations duty with England – including in the 29-26 play-off loss to eventual runners-up Trailfinders Women at Kingsholm Stadium.

Jones joined Gloucester Hartpury in 2024 from Sale Sharks. To date the 22-year-old has made 16 PWR appearances and helped the team to their third English league title.

Along with a number of senior Wales internationals, Jones has represented a Celtic Challenge side. To date Jones has made 16 appearances for Gwalia Lightning across three seasons and scored one try.
