  • FULL TIME: ITALY 7 AUSTRALIA 26 - Australia picked up where they left off in the first half, scoring a third try in the 43rd minute through Tupou, but when Italy responded through Bellini in the 46th minute, it gave them some belief that anything is possible. Italy proceeded to dominate their attacking half, only to be continually denied by the Australian defence. Genia put the exclamation point on the game, by scoring a 79th minute try, to give Australia a 19 point victory over Italy, in what was a hard fought and physical game.
  • MISSED CONVERSION AUSTRALIA - Toomua takes the kick for the extras from near the sideline. He swings it around, but it doesn't swing around enough going just wide of the mark.
  • Try
TRY AUSTRALIA (Will Genia) Italy 7 Australia 26 - Genia with some fancy footwork, coming up against two defenders as he thrusts himself over the line to score a late try for the Wallabies.
  • The stadium announcers have awarded the man of the match award to Samu Kerevi, being the driving force behind this Wallabies performance.
  • All credit must go to the Wallabies tonight. Even though they have not looked their best today, they still have managed to score three tries and restrict the Italians to the one try.
  • Time is now becoming a factor that is playing against Italy. They need to score and they need to do it now.
  • Bellini is helped off the ground as he looks as through he may have broken his arm in the last tackle, in a body blow to Italy's chances in this one.
  • Folau intercepts the ball and sends it into attack for the Wallabies. Has Italy blown their chance to score a try, despite the ball finding residence in their forward half, in the last five minutes?
  • The crowd is getting a little frustrated as the clock continues to tick, with the ball still only metres away from the Italian try line.
  • Italy have another scrum as Sio prepares to re-enter the pitch, to level the playing field in terms of the number of players for each team.
  • Italy continue to pile on the pressure on the Wallabies defence, being just 5m from their try line. Can they cross over?
  • The referee intervenes as he notices a bit of a push and shove between the two teams. He is quick to control it, organising both teams into the scrum position.
  • Australia are just hanging on at the moment, as they are desperately keeping the Italian forwards in check, but not sure how long they can keep this up for.
  • Italy may well be left ruing some of their earlier decisions during the game, where they did not take the penalty kicks, where they were almost a certainty. Had they taken each of their penalty kicks, they would only be five points down.
  • Yellow Card
YELLOW CARD AUSTRALIA - Alarm bells are ringing for the Wallabies as they are down to 14 men, after Sio's high tackle near the try line. He is sent off. It is now or never for Italy, as their appeals of a penalty try are ignored.
  • This is intense play by the Italians, being only just inches from the line. They need this to fall their way, if they are going to give the Australian team a run for their money.
  • Italy push forward once again. A try here will make it very interesting on the scoreboard. The Australian defence are able to hold on for now.
  • Negri attempts to pass it back to Tebaldi, who holds his ground and stands up for Italy as a force to be reckoned with, in the middle of the pitch.
  • We have had quiet a few stoppages in this second half, with still over 25 minutes to play, it is still anybody's game.
  • Play is held up momentarily as Pocock is slow to get up. He does not look great at the moment, suffering from a suspected concussion.
  • All of a sudden, Italy have a bit of a swagger about themselves, as they start to believe they can bridge the gap on the scoreboard.
  • Conversion
CONVERSION ITALY (Tommaso Allan) Italy 7 Australia 21 - Allan takes his first kick for points and he does not let his team down, threading the eye of the needle.
  • Try
TRY ITALY (Mattia Bellini) Italy 5 Australia 21 - Foley's pass in the middle is intercepted by Bellini. There is nobody in between him and the try line, as he runs it over the line to score Italy's first score of the day.
  • Conversion
CONVERSION AUSTRALIA (Matt Toomua) Italy 0 Australia 21 - Toomua goes three from three to give Australia a 21 point lead over Italy.
  • Try
TRY AUSTRALIA (Taniela Tupou) Italy 0 Australia 19 - Tupou gives it over to Dempsey, who returns it to sender, with Tupou shrugging the tackle and running it over the line for a try under the uprights. The TMO has asked to have a closer look at this one, but in the end he finds no wrongdoing on the Wallabies part, insisting on awarding the try.
  • The TMO decides to intervene as Benvenuti knocks it on. The TMO wanted to have a look at it a little closer, but in the end goes with the decision of the on field ref, of a knock on against Italy.
  • SECOND HALF - Australia kicks off to get us back under way for the second half.
  • HALF TIME: ITALY 0 AUSTRALIA 14 - Australia go into the half time break holding a 14-0 lead over Italy, after two tries from Koroibete, one in the 30th minute and one in the 36th minute. Italy will have a bit of work to do in this second half.
  • A penalty is awarded to Italy, who decide they will go for the try instead of the guaranteed three points. The crowd are right behind the home team on this one.
  • Italy have the run of the play at the moment, but time may just beat them, before they can score their first points of the game.
  • Conversion
CONVERSION AUSTRALIA (Matt Toomua) Italy 0 Australia 14 - Toomua kicks from directly in front and just like that the Wallabies hold a 14 point lead over the Italians.
  • Try
TRY AUSTRALIA (Marika Koroibete) Italy 0 Australia 12 - Koroibete with the old one-two, as he gives it over to Kerevi, but continues to run, finding himself in a position to demand the ball back, scoring a try beside the uprights.
  • The confidence within the Wallabies team has risen, as they push forward, to look for their second lot of points for the match.
  • Conversion
CONVERSION AUSTRALIA (Matt Toomua) Italy 0 Australia 7 - Toomua is able to convert the try to give Australia a seven point lead over Italy.
  • Try
TRY AUSTRALIA (Marika Koroibete) Italy 0 Australia 5 - Kerevi with a wonderful pass over to Koroibete, who zigs one way and zags the other, to find the line and score a try near the corner.
  • Castello with the box kick from the scrum half for Italy. Folau is underneath it and he takes it. The Wallabies are away from defence.
  • A promising attacking play for the Wallabies has been cut short as the ref spots a knock on by Gordon.
  • Benvenuti knocks it on with his right arm in the tackle, which allows the Wallabies a sniff of taking the ball through the middle of the pitch.
  • Italy win the penalty deep inside their defensive line, which is a crucial area for them to win a penalty, to get themselves out of trouble.
  • With a quarter of the game already played, with a 0-0 scoreline, this clash has been closer than a lot of the experts may have predicted. Could we be witnessing a huge upset today?
  • Campagnaro takes the ball 5m from the line, but he just can't shake off the tacklers. Pocock eventually brings down the big man.
  • A penalty is awarded against the Wallabies front row for collapsing in the scrum. The Italians can breathe a sigh of relief for now.
  • This could be very dangerous for Italy, who need to show they can hold a steady scrum when they need it. This one is within 5m of the defensive try line. A lot rests on the outcome of this scrum.
  • Australia are in Italian territory for the first time in the match. Can they make the most of their chance?
  • Tebaldi with the interception, as he swoops onto the ball, heading over the line to score a try under the uprights. The ref has called it back. It appears the try has been disallowed.
  • It has been an even start to the game, with Italy applying the pressure from defence. Australia are yet to have the free flowing game they like to play.
  • MISSED PENALTY AUSTRALIA - Toomua takes the kick from near the middle of the field. He has the accuracy, but he doesn't have the carry.
  • Castello attempts to lay a tackle with the ball not in residence. The referee immediately awards the penalty to Australia, who indicate they will take the kick.
  • Negri hands it over to Steyn, who looks to have scored a try in the corner. It goes up to the TMO and it is overturned, as Steyn's body was over the side line as he grounded the ball. Lineout to Australia. Great defending!
  • The Italian midfielders have managed to turn it all around. This is their most promising play of the match.
  • The Wallabies are pushing it into attack, with Folau at the helm. It won't be long before they score their first points of the match. Italy are just hanging on.
  • Italy have never beaten Australia, coming close last year. Could this be the game that changes everything?
  • FIRST HALF - Italy kick off and we are underway.
  • That Wallabies side features debuts for Jordan Petai and Jake Gordon.Petaia, 18, will become the youngest Wallabies debutant since James O'Connor a decade ago when he starts on the left wing.Scrum-half Gordon also gets his chance in Padova, with Michael Cheika making six changes of personnel following the 9-6 defeat to Wales.

  • Let's take a look at the teams...
  • Australia come into this fixture on the back of a first loss to Wales in a decade and will be eager to bounce back from that result against opponents they will be expected to beat comfortably.
  • Today looks like being an uphill struggle for Italy, with Australia having won each of their 17 meetings. The teams have faced each other just once since 2013, with the Wallabies winning 40-27 last year.
