WXV Global Series: When will we next see Women's Six Nations teams in action?
It is hard to believe that only six weeks ago the Guinness Women’s Six Nations got started.
All of a sudden the heart-stopping, ferocious action is over. Ultimately it was the world champion Red Roses that that walked away with an eighth Championship in as many years. It was a fifth Grand Slam on the bounce too.
Now all those players that belted out their national anthem for five weekends will return for their clubs. You are possibly sat there wondering, when will I next see England, France, Ireland, Italy, Scotland and Wales in action?
The answer; this September and October in the WXV Global Series.
Just as Women’s Rugby World Cup 2025 reached its conclusion, World Rugby confirmed the reimagining of WXV, which was launched in 2023.
The new format will see the world’s top 18 teams play over 100 matches between 2026 and 2028. The top 12 [Australia, Canada, England, France, Italy, Ireland, Japan, New Zealand, Scotland, South Africa, USA and Wales] nations will compete in a home and away cross-regional touring model, which takes place across a September and October winder. Unions have retained domestic commercial rights to their home fixtures.
Teams ranked 13-18 [Fiji, Hong Kong China, the Netherlands, Samoa, Spain and Brazil] will compete in the WXV Global Series Challenger, which will be hosted at Hong Kong’s Kai Tak Sports Park.
The WXV Global Series is also incorporated in the Women’s Rugby World Cup 2029.
