'A wonderful servant to the club': Lagi Tuima's Harlequins exit confirmed
Lagi Tuima’s seven year stay with Harlequins will come to a close at the end of this season.
Since her arrival from Bristol Bears in 2019, Tuima has made 107 appearances for Harlequins, scored 381 points and a Premiership Women’s Rugby winners medal from 2021 [then Premier 15s].
Tuima made her England debut in 2018 against Canada and was a recipient of a centralised contract from the Red Roses a year later. She won 16 Test caps.
It has not been confirmed where the 27-year-old’s next stop in her career will be. During her time in West London, Tuima became a key player for Harlequins and even captain the team on 11 occasions, including in this season’s PWR Cup.
Earlier this season Tuima made her 100th appearance for Harlequins when the side played Gloucester Hartpury in November.
Harlequins are currently sixth in the PWR table and four points adrift from a semi-final slot.
Ross Chisholm, Harlequins head coach, said: “Lagi is a player who will forever be remembered at Harlequins. Across her time at the Club, she has grown from a young player to a senior leader within the environment and a player that is looked up to by a number of the players in the squad. She was a crucial part of the Premier15s title winning side and has been a wonderful servant to the club.
“This year, she led a young PWR Cup squad to the final and really helped steer the side through that campaign. I was delighted to also see her pick up her 100th cap for the club against Gloucester Hartpury. To become just the fourth person at the time to reach that milestone for Harlequins Women was richly deserved. We want to wish Lagi all the best in her next stage of her career and thank her for all she has given to the shirt.”
