Stormers flanker and Springbok Deon Fourie has been called into the Springboks ahead of the Greatest Rivalry series according to a report by SA Rugby Mag.

The 39-year-old was industrious for the Stormers against the All Blacks on Friday night playing openside flanker and will now potentially take on the Test team.

He provides loose forward and hooker cover for the Springboks who are awaiting scans on captain Siya Kolisi who was forced off the field early in Buenos Aires against Argentina.

The 13-cap veteran debuted in 2022 at age 35 and went on to play hooker for the Springboks during the 2023 Rugby World Cup following an injury crisis at the position.

A spate of serious injuries has prevented Fourie from featuring for the Boks with his last game the 2023 Rugby World Cup final nearly three years ago.

Also of concern to the Springboks is star No.8 Cameron Hanekom who left the field late, further putting doubt over the loose forward stocks.

Meanwhile the All Blacks have yet to decide on a replacement for centre Billy Proctor who has been ruled out with a fractured shoulder.

With Rieko Ioane available to cover the midfield, Proctor’s replacement could be any position that the selectors feel needs extra depth.

The All Blacks play the Sharks in Durban on Wednesday morning 5am NZST.
