The Brumbies head coach oversaw a dominant 52-0 victory at Sports Illustrated Stadium in New Jersey on Friday, completing Australia A’s clean sweep against the USA Men.

In regular contact with Wallabies head coach Les Kiss, Larkham confirmed that several of his squad will stay on in the northern hemisphere to join up with the Test squad for the Nations Championship.

A number of the Australia A squad impressed in their 61-12 and 52-0 wins over the USA Men in Tennessee and New Jersey. Fly-half Harry McLaughlin-Phillips scored 17 points on Friday night, while cross-code star Zac Lomax was hugely impressive in his representative debut for Australia.

“This is a stepping stone for all of our players to get to that next level, which is where they all want to go,” Larkham said at Sports Illustrated Stadium.

“Some of them are in discussion at the moment – [I’ve] been back and forth with Les over the last 24 hours around some of the players before the game tonight.

“I haven’t spoken to him after the game, but we know there’s a couple of players that are going to head on the northern hemisphere tour.

“We’ve got three guys out of our squad at the moment that are going and there’s a possibility of two or three more other guys being called in.”

Larkham would not comment on which players were going to stay on in the northern hemisphere in November.

The squad touring North America includes 12 capped Wallabies, with Kiss likely to draw on that experience where needed.

After the first half of their Nations Championship campaign, Australia are currently third in the southern hemisphere pool.

In the Southern Series, the Wallabies lost narrowly to Ireland, also lost to France and got off the mark against Italy.

Kiss and the Wallabies are currently en route to the northern hemisphere for the second half of their Nations Championship campaign.

They will play England, Scotland and Wales across consecutive weekends in November before taking part in Finals Day at Allianz Stadium.

It’s good to see Aust A playing in a fashion consistent with the Wallabies and linking quite well together.

It gives me hope to see Larkham running the show and the possibility of a genuine Aussie coaches pathway developing at long last.

Fingers and toes X’ed.

TBH however, we will need stronger opposition in order to really find out things about the players. I don’t feel we really learn much about players when they are not under much pressure. I’d like to see their resilience against 12th-9th ranked Japan, Italy, Wales, Fiji for example to see where they are at.
