Saracens 'delighted' to confirm retention of PWR Player of the Season
Premiership Women’s Rugby player of the season Olivia Apps has re-signed with Saracens ahead of the 2026/27 seasons.
The 27-year-old Olympic silver medallist was a revelation for the North Londoners last season as they ended their four-year wait to lift an English league title with a 52-14 win over Trailfinders Women in June’s PWR final.
She arrived at Saracens fresh from helping Canada to a runners-up finish at Women’s Rugby World Cup 2025. Immediately the scrum-half struck up a strong partnership with England playmaker Zoe Harrison and the club charged up the league standings.
Alex Austerberry, Saracens Women’s Director of Rugby, said: “I am delighted that Olivia has committed her future to Saracens. Olivia had an exceptional first season with the club, having a great impact on and off the field. Her ambition to play really ignites the team, and her energy and work rate provide constant threats.
“It is truly exciting to see how Liv’s game will grow and adapt as she continues to develop within the XVs setting. Being PWR Player of the Year in your first season is a true measure of the quality Liv possesses. The exciting part is that there is so much more potential to unlock.
“Liv’s influence away from the field and her ability to care for and lead others are also key factors in the success of the group. Liv is truly unique, and it feels like this partnership was meant to be. It is exciting to see where both Liv and our own game can go, and it illustrates the collective ambition of everyone involved.”
Saracens have signed Ellie Boatman and Beth Wilcock this offseason. The side have seen the experience of Marlie Packer, Rosie Galligan, Laetitia Royer, Beth Blacklock and Deborah Wills all leave StoneX Stadium.
Apps is currently in Canada preparing for her team’s back-to-back WXV Global Series fixtures against the Red Roses in Toronto and Ottawa.
It will be the second and third times that the teams have met this autumn. In September, at Exeter’s Sandy Park, Canada held the world champions at 26-26. It was the first time the Red Roses had not won a game since their Women’s Rugby World Cup 2022 final defeat against the Black Ferns at Eden Park.
Apps said: “I am super excited to be re-signing with Saracens. I loved my time there this past season. The group is so much fun, and I am definitely looking forward to hopefully having another good performance as a team!”
