ACT Brumbies captain Ryan Lonergan will celebrate a special Super Rugby achievement this weekend, with brother Lachlan also named in the 23-man squad. The Lonergan brothers headline the Brumbies side to face the Highlanders in Dunedin on Saturday.

Following a long stint on the sidelines injured, Lachlan will suit up in Brumbies colours for the first time since June 14 2025. It’s a timely return for the capped Wallabies hooker, set to celebrate and share a milestone occasion with his brother.

Ryan Lonergan, the Brumbies captain and starting scrum-half, will make his 100th Super Rugby appearance. Lonergan will link up with in-form playmaker Declan Meredith in the halves, while David Feliuai and Kadin Pritchard make up the midfield pairing.

Paris Olympian Corey Toole starts on one wing, with New Zealand-born Australia A representative Ollie Sapsford on the other edge. Andy Muirhead rounds out the run-on side at fullback, while Tane Edmed and Hudson Creighton will come off the bench.

Coach Stephen Larkham has welcomed back some key reinforcements in the forwards for this round nine blockbuster, with Allan Alaalatoa another big-name inclusion. Alaalatoa joins Billy Pollard and James Slipper in the front row.

Nick Frost and Lachie Shaw will combine as the two locks, while Rob Valetini and Rory Scott take their place on a flank each at scrum time. Charlie Cale is the other name on the starting team sheet, selected at No. 8 once again.

The Brumbies are looking to bounce back after falling to the NSW Waratahs 30-28 on March 27. They have won one of their last four but sit in fourth place on the ladder, with three New Zealand teams ranked higher.
