Northampton Saints player ratings: Northampton Saints claimed a dramatic late win against Saracens at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday, winning 21-17 in the Gallagher PREM.

After racing to an early 14-0 start, the visitors found themselves losing the match with minutes remaining, not helped by Fin Smith being forced off in the first half. But they found a way to win and maintain their control at the top of the league. Here’s how the players rated:

15 George Furbank – 7
A performance of control and composure, albeit with a couple of blemishes. His early 50:22 set the tone territorially and he constantly looked comfortable with ball in hand, often stepping in at first receiver after Fin Smith departed. Linked beautifully with Smith before the injury and continued to pull strings afterwards, albeit the attack did stutter. However, his attempted tackle on Tobias Elliott for Saracens’ opener was limp, and he offered little resistance when Theo Dan crashed over. Still, his attacking influence was significant.

14 Tommy Freeman – 6
Carried well and looked threatening late on, producing a sharp break in the dying minutes that helped build momentum for the match-winner. But a poor decision to kick ahead rather than recycle possession blunted one promising attack. A mixed outing.

13 Tom Litchfield – 8
A game-breaking performance. Took his try superbly, stepping off his right foot to slice through Saracens early on. Came close to an intercept and was a constant attacking threat, beating four defenders. His moment of real quality came at the death, cutting through the line and producing a one-handed offload to send McParland over for the winner. Match-defining.

12 Rory Hutchinson – 7
Busy and inventive. His quick hands created Litchfield’s opening try, while his awareness from the kick-off to hack the ball deep applied early pressure. Showed nice deception at the line throughout. Defensively, he was brushed aside too easily by Rhys Carré, but his attacking contributions outweighed that.

11 James Ramm – 7
Carried relentlessly, finishing with 11 carries and six defenders beaten. His half-break late on helped ignite the final attack. A constant nuisance for Saracens’ defence and a key part of Saints’ attacking width.

10 Fin Smith – 7
Controlled things nicely before his premature exit. Kicked his goals and produced a moment of class, gliding through from halfway to set up McParland’s first try. His link-up with Furbank was excellent, and Saints’ attack noticeably dipped once he left the field following a head knock.

9 Archie McParland – 9
The match-winner and the spark. Always alert around the fringes, he supported Smith brilliantly to score Saints’ second try and was again on hand to finish the decisive score in the finals minutes. His service was sharp, and he consistently threatened the Saracens defence. A clutch performance.

1 Emmanuel Iyogun – 6
Won an early scrum penalty and showed some solidity before departing midway through the first half. Limited impact but did his job.

2 Curtis Langdon – 5
Struggled at the lineout under pressure from Maro Itoje, which disrupted Saints’ platform. Around the field he was industrious, but the set-piece issues dent his rating.

3 Luke Green – 4
A tough outing. Penalised multiple times at the scrum, including immediately after returning to the field. His difficulties in the set-piece gave Saracens a foothold and could have cost Saints dearly.

4 Tom Lockett – 7
A strong presence in the second row, highlighted by a crucial lineout steal deep in Saracens territory. Added six tackles and worked tirelessly in the tight exchanges.

5 Ed Prowse – 6
A relatively quiet performance but still put in six tackles and carried steadily. Did the unseen work without any standout moments.

6 Josh Kemeny – 7
Instrumental in building momentum early, making the initial break that led to Saints’ first try. Also produced a big lineout steal. Energetic and impactful before being replaced.

7 Tom Pearson – 9
Outstanding at the breakdown. Won a key penalty on the floor and added a turnover to his name. With 10 carries and 12 tackles, he was everywhere, combining work rate with real impact. Fully deserving of man of the match honours.

8 Henry Pollock – 8.5
A powerful display. Nearly forced his way over early on and consistently dented the Saracens defence with 15 carries. Produced a turnover after tackling Elliot Daly and looked to have scored, only for it to be ruled out. A dominant physical presence.
