Marcus Smith one of seven changes for England with new captain named

CCS does offer a harder carry, more ballast in scrum and maul and a 4th jumper with Pepper. I think the plan maybe to go after the set piece early. That maul against Auz was impressive. Taking meters of a team can seriously tire them. Or maybe this is just a way to negate Itoji being on the bench. But think it more of a tactic than a player choice.

Jordy hasn’t played at fullback for a number of years and I am searching in my memory for a time when he had a good game there. What you are saying just reinforces my argument that there are a number of posters who if Quinn replaces him at 12 will rack their brains to see where else he can go.

He is no longer a specialist fullback and Jordan is not a specialist wing so your suggestion makes no sense.

I think “Father Time” is giving BB a great big bear hug that is hard to shake off but Jordi still has something to offer when he comes back.

Lots will depend on how the centres go and if the combination works well (and Jordi doesn’t make 12) given his ability, they may consider if he is worth considering at 15, with Will Joprdan moving back to wing.

Given he is going to play for Leinster for the foreseeable, there is no practical point in playing him this tour, except as injury cover.

I think they will take a good look at him when he comes back from Leinster and see what his form is like and then there will be some big decisions.

You’re truly reality-proof. At no point was the age grade dominated by IRE. Domination requires victory. Never have Ireland won the U20 RWC. Since COVID, Ireland were 2nd, 4th, and 11th. In no way, shape and form can that be described as domination. FRA, and ENG, yes. But IRE has no business being in that sentence.

Finishing 1st, 2nd, and 4th since COVID, FRA’s average finish is 2.33, closer to silver than bronze. Second behind them are England (4,1,6) tied with South Africa (3,7,1) with the exact same average record of 3,67. Ireland with their 2nd, 4th, and 11th finish are on average 5,67, that’s two positions behind England and South Africa. So, really FRA, ENG, and SA have dominated, with NZ narrowly behind them (average 4). Then Australia (5,33), and only then Ireland (5,67) just narrowly sneaking ahead of Argentina (6 on average). So your notion of Ireland dominating the age grade since COVID is a pure pipe dream.

Well, as a french, I still remember 1995, 2011 (hello AB fans ;)) and of course 2023. So yeah, I don’t really like SA rugby team, and I don’t have a good opinion on them. But let's say that SA u20 team won rightfully at the last u20 championship. That was indeed really impressive.

I don’t care about hosting rights and all of that. I care about rugby. Saying that France would have won after that 1/4 is stupid. But we should have get to that 1/2 against England. And England was robbed too at the 1/2 and AB were robbed at the final, i saw the matchs and there were a lot of unfair decisions against them. It’s sad, really sad for rugby. That being said, it’s really not good from RugbyPass to cut what Lucu said to make that putaclik title.

I'm bemused by how many people on this site are constantly trying to fit Barretts into the ABs backline. Just in the last two weeks there has been a suggestion that BB should be starting at 15 and now 2 posters are suggesting that if Quinn succeeds at 12 Jordy should move to 15.

What happened to the old fashioned idea that if a player is better than you you're dropped.

Still confident that Jordy is the best bet ?

If Quinn and LF succeed on this tour he may find himself on the outer. And with the probable return of RM it's hard to see BB in the 23 as DMac offers far more off the bench.

Unfortunately the best coaches in the world cannot make a difference if they don't have the cattle to work with. Ioane, Proctor etc are just not international quality and when you add two number 10s who are in the same category you have problems. Also the injuries to your best half backs earlier in the year exacerbated the situation. It's very difficult to think of a weaker international half back than Christie.

I agree with you but they are not selecting Pepper & Pollock based on ability alone, it’s making sure they have enough game time to be ready for RWC2027.

The only reason why I think they will like playing Pepper is he’s very comfortable as the 3rd line out receiver (took 5 line outs at the weekend), which is helpful but either option will find a way to get the job done.
