Bethan Lewis will captain Wales this weekend in the Guinness Women’s Six Nations with Kate Williams ruled out with injury.

Williams, who previously shared captaincy duties in 2025 with injured Alex Callender ahead of this year’s Championship, came off in the 48th minute in her team’s 38-7 loss to France last time out.

At last year’s Women’s Rugby World Cup, Lewis captained Wales against Canada in the group stage as her side lost 42-0 to the tournament’s eventual runners-up.

This weekend Sean Lynn’s team travel across the Prince of Wales Bridge to play world champions, England, at Ashton Gate Stadium. Over 25,000 tickets have been sold for the clash taking place in the West Country.

After she was a late withdrawal for the Round 2 fixture against France, centre Carys Cox is not back to full fitness. Seren Singleton is available for selection after she left Cardiff Arms Park early last weekend.

“We have absolutely nothing to lose,” said Lewis. “I think we’ve shown a lot of progress in terms of performance.

“Obviously it’s not the complete performance that we’re working towards, but what better team to go up against than England to really put our stall out?

“We’ve had a good look at ourselves, taking some learnings from last week, and hopefully we can kick on again this week.”
