In January the side were runners-up in HSBC SVNS 3. Three HSBC SVNS 2 tournaments later Nahuel García’s were champions and now have the chance to claim a HSBC SVNS Series spot after World Championship tournaments in Hong Kong, Valladolid and Bordeaux.

Ahead of Hong Kong, García has confirmed the 14-players that will travel for the tournament. The side have been named in Pool C alongside the USA, France and Spain.

Nahuel García, Las Yaguaretés head coach, said: “After finishing the three stages of SVNS 2, having more than met the goal of ranking first and being the best team in the series, we are preparing for the biggest challenge that seven rugby can have worldwide, which is to play the SVNS World Championship.

“There are the best teams in the world, the first eight and the most competitive of SVNS 2, so it will be a great experience for Argentina, the first time in this context and in this place with our national team.

“We have a lot of expectations about being able to live the experience, we know that it will be really hard and super demanding, we are going to a place where we have never been so everything is going to be learning and above all the objective that the team can get into the best eight during these three tournaments.

“It would be spectacular for Argentina to be able to climb a few steps in the ranking, today we are in ninth position and the goal is to get among the eight or seven best, which will be extremely difficult. With that mentality we will face the three stages that we have ahead, with the illusion of always and the passion to continue representing Argentine rugby, in this case at the first level.”
