Cardiff tighthead prop Keiron Assiratti will miss Wales’ Nations Championship campaign in July due to a calf injury.

The 28-year-old has been withdrawn from Steve Tandy’s squad after picking up the injury in Cardiff’s United Rugby Championship quarter-final defeat to the Stormers.

Wales face the Barbarians at Twickenham’s Allianz Stadium on June 27, before embarking on a Nations Championship series which will see them face Fiji in Cardiff, Argentina in San Juan and South Africa in Durban in consecutive weekends in July.

Tandy has not called up a replacement for the 19-cap Welshman yet, but he is already without Tomas Francis, who has been granted a break this summer, and Archie Griffin, who is having surgery on a foot issue.

The squad are left with Dillon Lewis, Sam Wainwright and Ben Warren as their available tighthead props.
