50 players named for Fukofuka's first Scotland training camp
Sione Fukofuka has named his first Scotland squad since his appointment as head coach in December.
The former USA Women’s Eagles boss has named 50 players for the training camp which starts on Monday 19 January at Scotland’s Performance Sports Centre, Oriam.
It will be the first time that Fukofuka, and senior assistant coach Ioan Cunningham, will have had hands-on time with their players.
21 of the players selected took part in the 2025 Women’s Rugby World Cup. There are also 22 uncapped players named in the group.
The majority of the uncapped cohort have been plying their trade in the Celtic Challenge this winter, aside from centre Holly McIntyre who plies her trade in Elite 1 with Montpellier.
Sarah Bonar (back), Leia Brebner-Holden (shoulder), Francesca McGhie (shoulder) and Lisa Thomson (foot) will also return to Scotland for the week in order to continue their rehabilitation with the national team’s medical staff.
Fukofuka said: “I’m hugely excited to lead my first camp as Head Coach. It’s a fantastic opportunity for both myself and Ioan Cunningham, as new coaches, to build strong connections with the players and align around how we intend to accelerate this programme – especially with squad selection for the Guinness Women’s Six Nations approaching in the Spring.
“We’ve seen some outstanding performances across PWR, Celtic Challenge and French leagues in recent months, and I’m really looking forward to seeing those players come together in our environment, competing hard and pushing each other to higher standards.
“I’m grateful for the opportunity to work with the national team staff, supported by the pathway performance coaches, as we align and strengthen the program heading into an exciting 2026.”
