Bio

A dual code rugby player, Krystal Murray currently plays as a prop for the New Zealand women's rugby union team and Hurricanes Poua. Murray debuted for the Black Ferns against England in October 2021.

Born on 16 June 1993 in Kaitaia, New Zealand, Krystal Murray is a popular player, both in union and league. She started her career playing league for the Kiwi Ferns. This included representing the national team at the 2017 Women's Rugby League World Cup, where she scored five tries.

Her rugby union career began with the Northland team in 2019 and to date, she has made more than 130 appearances for the club. In addition, Murray joined the Blues in 2021 ahead of the inaugural Super Rugby Aupiki season.

She started in their first game of the tournament, which was the first women's Super Rugby game, as well as the final against Chiefs Manawa. She also scored a try in their 21-10 win over Matatū. Additionally, Murray made her international debut for New Zealand in the same year.

In 2022, Krystal Murray was selected for the Black Ferns team that competed at the Pacific Four Series and she played in the first match. She also represented the national side in two tests at the Laurie O'Reilly Cup.

Later that year, Murray was named in the squad for the delayed 2021 Rugby World Cup. She appeared in two matches and delivered headline-worthy performances. She scored a try against Wales and appeared in the final, where she scored a try just three minutes after coming off the bench.

With her union career only just beginning, we can't wait to see what the future holds for Krystal Murray.
