Bio
Joanna Grisez is a French rugby union player who represents France in the women’s rugby sevens as a wing. She was part of the French squad during the 2020 and 2024 Summer Olympics and also made the French squad for the 2021 Rugby World Cup.
Grisez was born 5 October 1996, in Colombes, France. She began playing rugby at 19 whilst at university after deciding tennis wasn’t the right sport for her. At 1.65 m (5 '5) and 56 kg (123 lb), she’s an agile wing, offering outstanding skill and speed.
In 2020 she was enlisted into the French squad for the Tokyo Summer Olympics but had to drop out at the last minute due to injury. She was replaced by Nassira Konde, a travelling reserve.
At the 2022 Rugby World Cup Sevens in Cape Town, South Africa, Grisez won a bronze medal. Two months later, she earned another bronze medal during the Rugby World Cup (XV-a-side) in New Zealand.
Grisez returned to the Olympics in 2024, where she was able to compete for France.
Despite her later start in rugby, Grisez has offered some excellent performances throughout her career and we can’t wait to see more from this talented French wing.
