Why it matters
The winner earns the 24th and final spot at RWC 2027, completing the line-up for Australia’s showpiece.

It will also decide the 12th and final place in World Rugby’s inaugural Nations Cup tournament for 2026.

Belgium kept their campaign alive with an extraordinary 30-27 win over Brazil despite playing more than half an hour with 14 men. Replacement prop Maxime Jadot crashed over in the final minutes to seal it, prompting coach Laurent Dossat to say he was “incredibly, incredibly proud” of his side’s refusal to give in.

Samoa, meanwhile, looked increasingly assured in a 26-8 victory over Namibia. Three first-half tries, intelligent kicking from Jacob Umaga and a well-executed driving maul put them in control.

“Obviously, we’ve had a few players come in and they brought their experience and just a calibre of where they play,” said Head coach Lemalu Tusiata Pusi, when talking about the impact of new players in camp, including former Wallaby Scott Sio. “So it’s been good for the other players that were involved in the last campaign to see the level of these players and where they need to get to.”

Samoa have never failed to qualify for a Rugby World Cup, having appeared at every tournament since 1991, having not been invited to the inaugural tournament in 1987.
