Wallaroos join Wallabies for Sydney double header

The Wallaroos have confirmed they will partner with the Wallabies for a first doubleheader in two years this October in Sydney.

On Saturday 17 October the Wallaroos will host Scotland at Accor Stadium prior to the Wallabies’ Bledisloe Cup clash with New Zealand’s All Blacks.

It will be the first time that the Wallaroos have played at Accor Stadium in eight years. This will be Scotland’s first trip to Australia and forms part of the WXV Global Series.

Scotland, who are coached by former Wallaroos assistant Sione Fukofuka, will play a second Test against Australia a week layer at Canberra’s GIO Stadium.

Jilly Collins, General Manager of Women’s High Performance, said: “We are incredibly excited to bring the Wallaroos back to Accor Stadium for the first time in eight years.

“Featuring alongside the Wallabies for a double header provides a premier stage for our players and a brilliant spectacle for Australian rugby fans.

“This home series holds extra weight as it follows our clash with Scotland in Edinburgh just a few weeks prior. Facing them twice on home soil – culminating in a standalone Test in Canberra – is a significant milestone for the WXV Global series.

“We are excited to see the Wallaroos’ continued growth as they conclude the international season in front of a home crowd.”

To date the Wallaroos and Scotland have played one another four times in their history. It is a clash with Australia hold a 4-0 advantage since their first meeting at the 1998 Women’s Rugby World Cup in Amsterdam.

It has already been confirmed that the Wallaroos will play world champions England this September in Salford. Two further Test matches are yet to be announced.

Under the guidance of interim head coach Sam Needs the Wallaroos have won just one of their four Test matches in 2026.

Their 33-15 win over the Fijiana was followed by a fourth-place finish at the 2026 Pacific Four Series.

I hope the Australian Rugby public turn up to watch them in the double header. Not sure about these double headers anymore, the demographics of the crowd for the women’s and the men’s games are so different now in England.
