Wallaby wing a late scratch for second week in a row

The Brumbies have announced the Wallabies speedster Corey Toole has been withdrawn from the weekend’s game against the Fijian Drua in Lautoka.

The former SVNS flyer is managing a quad injury, having played all 80 minutes of the Brumbies’ opening three rounds.

It is the second week in a row that Toole was named to start, only to drop out of the matchday 23 on the eve of the match.

As was the case for last week’s game against the Reds, Hudson Creighton has been called upon to move into the starting unit in Toole’s place, while Austin Anderson comes onto the bench.

Toole has enjoyed a largely clean bill of health in his Super Rugby career to date, regularly exceeding 1000 minutes of action in his three prior Brumbies campaigns.

But the quad injury is clearly a concern for the Brumbies’ medical staff, with tightness persisting throughout rounds four and five of the new season.

Toole made his Wallabies debut against the Springboks in the 2025 Rugby Championship, ending the international season with six Test caps and one try to his name. The 26-year-old’s try-scoring record for the Brumbies is significantly better, with 30 in 46 appearances.

Wallabies and Brumbies fans alike will be hoping the cautious approach with Toole, who has been clocked running at a blistering pace of 10.2 meters per second, pays off in the long run.
