The schedule for season 2 of Elite Women’s Rugby, the USA’s first women’s professional rugby league has been announced.
Kicking off in May 2026, over ten competitive weeks of action will see the best female rugby players based in the USA go head to head to become champions of America.
The league debuted in March 2025 with six teams across the United States: Bay Breakers, Boston Banshees, Chicago Tempest, Denver Onyx, New York Exiles, and TC (Twin Cities) Gemini with the competition leading the way for female coaches with five of the six teams headed by a woman.
The second iteration of the league kicks off on Saturday 2nd May 2026 with Boston Banshees against the New York Exiles, Chicago Tempest against TC Gemini, with defending champions Denver Onyx playing Bay Breakers the following day.
Standout names for this season include McKenzie Hawkins (Denver Onyx) who was the USA’s starting fly-half for the 2025 World Cup in England, plus other prominent USA Eagles including Rachel Johnson (Denver Onyx).
Women’s Elite Rugby has also announced a new media partnership with The Women’s Sports Network, the women’s-sports-only channel serving as the the home of WER for the 2026 season, delivering live and delayed match coverage on its channel under an exclusive content licensing deal.
