The 75-cap back, who has also represented Great Britain at the 2020 and 2024 Olympic Games, links up with the squad ahead of matches with France and Ireland.

Thomson has missed the first three matches of this year’s Championship after she had Achilles surgery following Women’s Rugby World Cup 2025.

So far this Women’s Six Nations, Scotland have only picked up one win from matches against Wales, England and Italy.

Their 24-19 victory over Wales in Round 1 has been followed by a 84-7 loss to England at Scottish Gas Murrayfield and a 41-14 loss to Italy in Parma.

In the release confirming Thomson’s return to the squad, Fukofuka has confirmed that Rachel McLachlan, Evie Wills and Hannah Walker have all been ruled out of the remainder of this year’s Women’s Six Nations.

The loss of McLachlan will be a significant one for Scotland. With over 50 caps, the back-row forward played 41 minutes in her team’s loss to Italy before being removed from the turf in discomfort.

There will be worried eyes cast the way of skipper Rachel Malcolm, who was removed from the starting XV in Parma ahead of kick-off with a knock.

Thomson’s return to fitness could calm concern in the midfield. Emma Orr was ruled out of the tournament after the Wales fixture, while Wills confirmed on social media that she had dislocated her shoulder against England in Round 2.

As a result Thomson could be expected to be Meryl Smith’s fourth starting centre partnership of the 2026 Women’s Six Nations with Lucia Scott more regularly seen at full-back.

Walker has not been seen at this year’s Championship after she impressed for Edinburgh Rugby in the Celtic Challenge. Further replacements in the squad are expected to be announced in the coming days.
