Better solution is to make your domestic competition more commercially attractive. You’ll need the best players to do that. NRL won’t generate as much revenue that they do if their best players played oversees, would they? It’s short-term thinking. You gotta build your revenue by investing in a quality product, not plan your own shrinkage by letting top quality players go.

I think Leinster Ulster will be a big match. Two full teams. Ulster rested players last week to give this a right go. Even if they lose, players will get invaluable experience in the furness. I think the plan and belief is a win.

I think DS's ideas are pretty good and make a lot of sense. The NZRU did a lot of damage back in 2016 and the game could have been a lot better if the rules were changed then (and the 2011 Bryce Lawrence fiasco did a lot of damage too!)

I do agree. But it is for all teams (not only French) to send there youngsters vast distances to be hammered. Such a competition is not good and spectators will disappear in the first rounds. As SA supporters it is not for us to say about the CC, but I still believe that it is better for us to completely get out of the CC.

Yes, yes, yes and yes.

I don’t actually mind the blocking law itself as it was becoming ridiculous. BUT the ruck speed laws that came with them haven’t been enforced. Like you say, the 9 shouldn’t have so much time and space to box kick, more pressure on the 9 will separate the best 9’s from the rest and create more of a contest.

Final and semi finals are an other issue with money, but not only. It's a part of french rugby union culture. Semi finals in a single town, two days in a row and final at Stade de France are the ice on the cake of the rugby feast. Obviously, about 200000 tickets solded in two weeks give some “ butter in the spinach” as we said in France. Not to talk about the hôtels ,restaurants and bars in the semi finals town and broadcasting too. But you are right it brings nothing to the sport.

For CC, 8 or 9 games with less teams should be better. 16 teams ,4 pools ,6 games home and away, quarters ( or not) semi and final. Other teams should be in challenge cup.

I don’t know the future for hi, I only think he did'nt played enough games this year to be in this ranking and he need calm. Maybe we should be inspired by the tennis ranking system and remove him in next year ranking.

Apologies, that was just make things fast and easy for others to read. I was certainly replying to you’re full sentence. Razor of course relates who he has good synergy with, especially with his new pitch, but NZR definitely still headhunt coachs of their own choosing.

How well they do that is the real question. Particularly around Tony Brown there was a vibe going around at the time he wasn’t the right material.

I’d say that’s the likely situation. Fix that and the balance goes back towards CC (but there is still the same old problem).

Thing is this is LNR and Prem’s competition, they came up with this (not so much travel to SA part lol), so why aren’t the French invested?

Certainly the idea of two pools (for the purpose of only playing a single round in one of them) is not sexy. That sort of concept is really suitable to wider competitions (like CC itself, or with American sports), but you would be likely to have either Toulouse or BBB at home with it, right.

Theres no need for finals with double round robin comps. It defeats the whole purpose of having it. If you really wanted finals you go to a single RR 18+ league, have a 4-6 week finals series, and introduce a Cup styled (FA Cup, any comparison in french football?) competition if need to fill out a similar number of games.

Yes! That was my impression, they scored off of it more often (didn’t NB do an article on that?), but I’m only guessing that’s because blockers weren’t flooding the area.
