I think Rennie is the only international top 5 coach with less than two weeks coaching of his players over the last two years! But still, no excuses!!

I expect Rennie to select his best squad of course, just like Razor did last year for the Dunedin test out of all the available players. Of course guys like Jordan and Fainga’anuku won’t be in through injury. Not convinced Savea plays next month as well.

The 2 weeks is the same time period that NH teams get when preparing for November so it’s pretty normal practise, the players have just come off a good 4/5 months of play so yes there shouldn’t be any excuses.

If Rennie plays with a Canes dominated team, then it will be an AB A team. Te Kaha will be lightening quick. Rennie has them for two weeks to get them ready. It should be enough. No excuses.

What does Steve see in Alex Dombrandt? He is fairly anonymous in the Prem, playing in an underperforming side - isn't a big ball carrier, doesn't seem to make much impact for England - has he ever scored a close range try for England (or even Quins)? Happy to be proved wrong but England need impact forwards in key positions and if they're just not out there ok - but can't help think that Alfie Barberry - despite a ridiculous lid and fumbles the odd ball - he carries into heavy traffic, never takes a backward step. Could be handy against SA - particularly when you consider how he would complement our typically lighter, mobile back row. Happy to be schooled by some norse on this point…
