The 47-player squad will assemble at Pennyhill Park on Monday 12 January and marks the start of a new Women’s Rugby World Cup cycle.

It will not be until April that England are next in action. They will host Ireland at Allianz Stadium, the scene of their Women’s Rugby World Cup final win over Canada, and have already sold 50,000 tickets for the 2026 Guinness Women’s Six Nations opener.

Mitchell, Red Roses head coach, said: “2025 was a memorable year for everyone involved with the Red Roses, and one that will go down in history for rugby in this country.

“As we enter a new cycle, this camp will focus on aligning our communication and resetting our culture to win.

“It is natural for a rugby cycle to go through regeneration which presents exciting opportunities for young players over the next four years. The quicker they can adapt and contribute to the environment will enhance their opportunities.”

That majority of the uncapped players are found in the forwards. This includes a quartet of Trailfinders Women talent in Jasmine Adroni, Haidee Head, Hayley Jones and Annabel Meta.

Loughborough Lightning’s Keevy Fitzpatrick and Haineala Lutui, while there are also places for back-row duo Steph Else and Nicole Wythe.

Wythe is joined in the squad by her club teammate Sarah Parry, who has impressed in midfield for the London side at the start of this Premiership Women’s Rugby season.

After the retirement of Abby Dow, Mitchell is assessing his wing options and has invited Bristol Bears’ Millie David into camp after her six-try start to the campaign and Sophie Hopkins, who is spending this season with LOU Rugby in France while completing a study placement year. She is the only player selected currently not playing her club rugby with a PWR side.

They will hope to impress among the likes of Jess Breach, Claudia Moloney-MacDonald and two-cap Gloucester Hartpury wing Mia Venner.

There are also recalls for Exeter Chiefs duo Maisy Allen and Flo Robinson, who have been in resplendent form for the Devon club.

Shouldn’t we use his full title, John Mitchell OBE? I am hoping Millie David gets her international debut this year and great to see both Emma Wyrwas and Connie Powell back in the squad as I expected both of them to feature more in 2025, Connie Powell particularly.
